1947 Chevrolet Chevy loadmaster (RARE OPTIONS)
I have for sale, at no reserve, a 1947 Chevy Loadmaster. First of all, this truck comes with a couple of really cool options that I haven't seen before. These were either factory or dealer installed - windshield washer set up, and also a surge tank for the radiator, both mounted on the firewall. This also has a different style heater than I have seen, not sure if it's an option, or just a '47 model heater, as the trucks I have had previously were '48 and up. I included these in the pictures.
This truck was loved, and came from a working farm, so it does have the typical dings, dents that you would expect from a farm truck, it also was depended upon, and therefore kept in very good running condition. It still has the original 216 engine and it starts with about one revolution of the starter. They call this engine the stovebolt 6, and I grew up with these when they are running correctly, they idle with a little bit of a burble. My dad used to say they chuckle at an idle, this one chuckles! The odometer shows aprox 63K and previous owner said engine was rebuilt around 45-50k. That would be about the life expectancy forone of these that was used on the farm, and the way it runs I have no reason to not believe this. The tires allhave decent tread and hold air just fine, but they are MontgomeryWards Riverside tires, so obviously they are pretty weather checked. This truck does have a 2speed rear end, and it works just as it should. This truck has factory power brakes - and they work very well.Sorry - no power steering! Most of the lights work - but the turn signals do not. This truck obviously has ahydraulicdump be and it works just fine. The non-synchronized transmission works like it did the day it left the factory (by which I meanit grinds going into every gear)but seriously it does shift exactly as it should. All of the glass is in good condition with the exception of the driver side window. All the windows roll up and down well and the doors open and close well.
The great thing about this truck is that it fits in so many different categories. This could be a reasonably priced father-son project that's already drivable, or used on a small working farm, or purchased just for nostalgia because you like the way they sound at an idle! Please feel free to call me as I am sometimes a little slow to get back to eBay messages. My name is Cort 620-786-5172. I have 100% positive feedback, and I want to keep it that way, so feel confident in bidding, but please ask any questions prior to bidding. I am also easy to work with on storing until you pick up or have shipped etc. 2 important things I left out is the fact that I have found no rust on this truck. As soon as I call it rust free - someone will find a spot and I'll be wrong so I'm saying this truck is 99% rust free, and also all the gauges work including speedo and fuel gauge. Thank you and good luck!
