Description

1953 Chevrolet Suburban
Up for auction is one of the coolest early suburbans ever built! This truck is bad ass, and gets tons of attention. This is a fresh build, just completed. It has been to 1 show and got an overwhelming response. There is really nothing out there like it. This truck is guaranteed to draw a crowd!
Don't let the Patina Paint fool you, there is nothing old about this one. This is a full nut and bolt restoration. Every seal, rubber, piece of glass, trim, clip, nut, and screw has been gone through. This truck was stripped completely apart.
There is a TON of money and time invested in this truck. This is not a cheap build. Over 1600 labor hours. Factor that in with the cost of a clean original early Suburban to start with, high end parts, and quality materials, and it starts to ad up quick to build one to this level.
The paint on the truck was all professionally done. This is not a quicky faux patina finish. It was done no differently than you would do slick and shiny show quality paint. The entire truck was stripped, bodyworked, primed, blocked, and shot in Dupount base coat. The interior, firewall, wheels, and jambs were shot in gloss clear. The artwork was applied to the exterior, and then matte clear was sprayed on top. Lots of time went into the paint work on this truck and it shows.
There was no expense spared on the inside of this Suburban either. The pics do the interior no justice! All high end materials throughout, everything was color matched and goes together really well! The entire interior was stripped to bare metal and shot in base clear. The dash was shaved and body worked.
Oatmeal German Square Weave carpet throughout the truck. The carpet was custom made and looks extremely nice, the photos do not do it justice. $1500 spent on the carpet alone! The truck retains 3 rows of seats which looks awesome. The front jump seat still folds like factory. The rear seat was narrowed to fit between the wheel tubs. The seats were covered in colored matched plaid cloth (which was also very expensive) and distressed brown vinyl. The seat frames and springs were completely restored as well. The headliner was custom made. The bows are painted in base clear to match the seat frames and the rest of the headliner is color matched to the seat vinyl.
The factory column was adapted to work with the Corvette steering box. The factory steering wheel was restored and painted to match. A Lokar shifter was added. The gauges are Dakota Digital VHX series.
Every piece of chrome, stainless, or aluminum inside the truck is new. All new stainless hardware throughout. All new rubber seals, windlace, new window regulators, door latches, rebuilt vent window assemblys with new felts and seals.
Every single piece of glass is brand new. Custom cut 1 piece side windows give it a clean look. Every window rubber, weatherstrip, and seal is new.
Every piece of exterior brightwork is brand new. New grill, bumpers, door handels, mirrors, emblems, wiper bezels, etc. is new.
The wheel and tires are brand new staggered Wheel Vintiques smoothies, painted to match. New Chevrolet caps and ribbed trim rings. The tires are Bias Look Radial wide white walls. They are not cheap, but have an awesome vintage look and still perform like a modern radial.
This Suburban rides and handles awesome, courtesy of the c4 Corvette front suspension, steering, and brakes. This gives you aluminum upper and lower control arms power rack and pinion steering, corvette disc brake setup with big calipers. The rear has a triangulated 4 link, step notch, and has been tubbed to allow the truck to lay flat on the ground! Th truck steers and handle awesome.
The fully adjustable air ride suspension is all brand new. No expense spared here either. It has Ridetech Shockwaves in the front, Airlift Dominator bags in the rear. It is all controlled through an Accuair air management system.
Under the hood you will find a very nicely detailed engine compartment. The motor is a 350 small block from a Corvette. The block was cleaned and shot body color. A new polished aluminum intake was painted to match. The rest of the components were shot in gloss black. It features a restored set of scripted 283 valve covers and air cleaner. The firewall is shaved smooth. The tranny is a th350 turbo which shifts nice. Everything on motor is new. It has new wires, plugs, belts, hoses, gaskets, seals, carb, etc
This Suburban runs, drives, and rides awesome. I have had lots of early pickups with air ride, and the combination of the corvette suspension and the shockwaves is awesome. The truck is very drivable and cruises nicely at any speed. I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere.
It is fresh, and ready to go. It needs nothing, all the bugs have been worked out, It is ready for you to enjoy.
I could go on about this one forever, but I will let the pictures tell the story.
