Description

This is a 1955 Chevy Belair with only 43,905 original miles. It was purchased in St. Petersburg, Florida by my father in February 1976. This car has been kept in the same St. Petersburg private garage for over 40 years. My Dad originally first saw this car back in the 50's parked in a neighbors garage every time he would mow her yard, so twenty years later he stopped by her house and asked "Whatever happened to that old 55 Chevy that used to be parked in your garage ?" I don't know for sure, but it is very possible that this car has been in St. Petersburg, Fl. since it was purchased new.
This car has been driven a few times a year since it was purchased in 1976, and it has always been well cared for since my father purchased it. The car was in very good original condition when he purchasedit, and he had this car restored including new paint, interior, headliner, emblems, hood bird, sill plates, re-chromedbumpers etc. In the last couple of years I have replaced the gas tank, left rear door glass (cracked) & window channel, fuel gaugesender unit, heater hoses, fuel pump, installed seat belts in front and rear, and the carburetorhas been rebuilt. I also replaced the tires with new Diamond Back white wall tires about 2 years ago. The tires still have the new tire spikes on them. The car starts right up every time and the motor and transmission are in excellent condition. The car drives very smooth, and it is a lot of fun to see the smiles on peoples faces when I drive by. I did install an original AM radio a few years back as the car came with a blank plate over the radio. The radio needs to have an antenna and the speaker/amplifieradded to operate. The fuel gaugesometimes will "float" from 1/2 to full tank while driving, but it does seemto be operating. The wiper motor is electric. I do have a few spare parts that I am including with this sale.
This 55 Chevy Belair is being sold as-is with no warranty. This car is available to be inspected and driven before you purchase it, and please ask if you have any questions. I hate to sell this family heirloom, however it is time to let someone else enjoy this classic 55 Chevy.
