One of the most legendary trucks from the late 70's, and featured in lots of magazines at the time for being one of the most iconic specialordered truck back then because of the engine/transmission and suspension components for this truck, 1977 Chevrolet C10 Big 10 454 short bed fleet side in factory GM 81 BROWN with the Silverado trim package, fully optioned A/C, power brakes, power steering, power windows and power doors with tilt steering column and still original paint underneath with a re-sprayed of clear coatback in the late 90's, which is not a show truck but very clean and original high powered truck that makes this truck different than the rest on the market.
The body on this truck is super clean for being an original well taken care "survivor from the late 70's", it's got some age on the paint and body, some light chips and scratches, nothing out of the ordinary for a 40 year old truck; This truck have only had 2 owners besides me and the first owner had it since 1976 since he first bought it in California and sold in 2010 for the first time since new, this C10 was build inFremont, California and has been there until I purchase it back in October 2016, since I got it, I decided toleft the body and paint alone and focus on the suspension and fix all the little problems and make it road worthy as a summer daily driver and most of all keeping the originality of the truck but better underneath. Has a very tine dent by the end of the driver side bed very small.All the exterior moldings and trim are the exact original that came on the truck andcan be easilyspotted since is the only year that came with the gold stripe on the moldings, they have never been replaced.
The interior was fully stripped and the floor was cleaned and new liner was applied for sound proofing and heat insulation as well underneath a brand new premolded 1 piece carpet, the seat was also reupholstered and new foam was also installed, brand new OEM seat belts were also fitted and installed. Brand new headliner and brand new dash pad, still has the original trim around which came with thetruck originally.This was an early 1977 example so power windows and power door locksdidn't came until late '77 or basically 1978 model, so this truck has been upgraded with power windows and power door locks(original door panels and manual window system can be included if still available)All the gauges works with all the lights. Tilt steering column makes it so much easier getting in and out of the truck and makes itmorecomfortable to drive. All the interior trim and molding are still original but reconditioned.Rear sliding window option.
The motor is still the original that came with the truck and is a ver low mileage on the body, motor and transmission. All the drivetrain has been serviced and new gaskets were installed. The 454 has kept mostly original with some bolt on upgrades like a set of California approved long tube headers with the smog ports which are in perfect working order, the original factory Quadrajet 4bbl carburetor has been rebuilt and tunedand is still on top of the original cast iron intake manifold.
The first owner had new timing chain, camshaft upgrade with lifters installed and also did upgrade to HEI distributor back in 2009.Second owner lost interest and left truck aside until this year that I bought it, since then the truck was neglected left to weather conditions, the engine had some amajor leakfrom the oil pan, so the gasket was replaced and upgraded to a one piece gasket and new fluids were added with new filter, no more engine leaks. The carburetor was rebuilt and tuned, the spark plugs were replaced asthe spark plug wires upgraded to a 8.2 mm wires. The headers were leaking so gaskets were replaced with multilayer gaskets and new ARP bolts wereupgraded as well. All new radiatorhoses and newvacuum hoses as well. This engine runs fantastic and pulls like it should, also has new 3 inches X pipe dual exhaust withflow masterssounds mean and shakes everything aroundevery timestep on the gas. All new belts were also installed. The A/C blows cold and has been upgraded to R134-a already with new O-rings and new hoses as well. The heater blows super hot as well. Mechanically this truck is sound and can be driven anywhere. Does NOT overheats,smokes or leaks at all.
The transmission has also beenserviced with new fluid, filter and gasket and it shifts like it should, not a single problem or kick from the transmission, it shifts very smooth and drives perfect on highway speeds. New speedometer cable installed.
The suspension has been professionally done, the front has been lowered 4.5 inches, with brand new set of lower tubular control arms which gives a 3 inches drop and a set of 1.5heavy duty coil springs and new bushings, still has the original heavy duty springs and brakes from factory but upgraded with new pads.Brand newinnerand outer tie rod ends left and right were replaced as well as the pitman arm and alignment already done. Originalswaybar bushings has also been upgraded with energysuspension bushings. All brand new ground force shocks in the 4 corners.Shock repositioning brackets were used to install new shocks all around. The suspension is tight and handles like is on rails. New lower ball joints were installed with the new control arms.
The rear has been dropped 6inches with an axle flip kit and 1 extra inch with the shackle kit as well, a c-notch kit was professionally welded in for reinforcement, instead of just bolted on.This truck looks, sounds and drives perfectly good. The wheels are 17 inches by 10 inches wide and the tires are 235/55/17 and have plenty of tread left.
This truck is a survivor rare factory equipped big block truck, this is not a show quality truck expect some wear and tear of an original 40 year old truck.
