Up for sale is my one of a kind, tastefully built 1978 Datsun 280Z resto-mod. This car is AMAZING! Almost $50,000 invested in this build! 503 WHP LS3 with T56 6 speed transmission. This isa VERY classy, nicely restored Z on the outside, but packs a SERIOUS punch with the latest in engine technology that makes it fast, fierce, and awe inspiring, but is extremely reliable and fuel efficient! The best of all worlds! Extremely fresh build with only 600 miles on the completed car! Looks brand new in, out, under, and under the hood! Previous nut and bolt restoration. Look closely at all of the fasteners. The car is shockingly clean on the under side. It literally looks like a new car under the hood, under the car and outside the car. If you want one of the classiest, cleanest, and fastest Z Cars built in the country, look no further. You have found it!
This car was built using an excellent condition stock car that had been meticulously pampered and cared for. All glass and sheet metal is original and absolutely 100% rust free. It has never had any rust nor have there been any body repairs. Interior is original including the crack-free dash. The build started with a rare, extremely clean car, and was built up from there. Below is some history on the build.
The original, stock, unmolested car was purchased from Nevada with 67k miles on it. Paid $17k for the stock car. 100% rust free, never had rust, never had any accidents or any body repairs. It looks to have had a previous nut and bolt restoration and was in excellent condition. The car was then stripped, engine/trans removed, all glass removed, etc. It was primed and painted Anthracite from the 1993 Toyota Supra. A beautiful and classy metallic paint that fits the era and body style of this car extremely well. It also compliments the rare cream interior. The LS3 is out of the previous owners 2015 Chevy SS. He is one of those guys who is a car nut who has too much time AND money. He pulled the LS3 and built a $20k race engine to put into the Chevy SS. The LS3 had 1,000 miles on it when removed from the car. It was a complete take out meaning the entire harness, ECU, digital gas pedal, etc, was all removed and installed into the 280Z. 100% 2015 Chevy OE parts. It has only had 660 miles put on it since the resto mod completion. The T56 has less than 20k miles on it. The entire car was reassembled with an obsessive eye for detail using all OEM/NOS parts where possible. All of the drivetrain parts are top quality and very expensive. This car was built with an open checkbook and is a rare example of how these cars should be PROPERLY built.

*Not including any labor, the countless hours invested or the myriad of odds and ends required to build this beauty.
Please keep in mind that this is a 40 year old car. It performs amazingly and is truly a treat to look at, but it is not concours quality perfect. The interior looks to be original, needs a radio, and I’m sure you can find some small misc items to tinker with if you look real hard. All of the hard work and big $$ items are done. You can take it to the local shows, and probably win, as-is, or you can continue customizing and restoring to make it your own.
