Description
1956 DeSoto Firedome finished in Crimson/Black with Red interior. a 330c.i. Hemi V8 producing 230hp and backed by an optional Powerflite 2-speed push-button automatic transmission. The Firedome has a classic 1950's look with some added flair. The color options and redesigns that happened over the years were ones that pushed the company to meet or exceed expectations, and now you can enjoy the same car that led to that success.DeSoto first introduced the Firedome in 1952. In 1955 they redesigned the car with what was considered a "forward look" at the time. This included some bright color packages many people weren't accustomed to. This was also the year that the Firedome took over as the "entry-level model" taking the title from the DeSoto Powermaster. Moving forward to the model year 1956, the "forward look" was freshened up and the electrical system was updated to 12-volt. This was also the year that the Hemi V8 grew to 330c.i. and an optional Powerflite automatic transmission was added. Because all these changes led to some amazing and mechanically sound cars, Desoto actually outsold Chrysler for the 1956 model year. By 1959 the Firedome was no longer available. DeSoto themselves soon followed and ended their run as a company in 1961.This car features; dual exhaust left hand fender mirror, three-way prismatic rear-view mirror, power brakes, power steering, AM push-button radio with rear seat speaker, 15-inch wheel with chrome hubcaps and and white wall tires, analog clock, windshield washers, 4,120 lb curb weight, independent front suspension, rebuilt brake system, transmission service, recent coolant and oil service, new master cylinder, new valve cover and oil pan gaskets, and new rear shocks.
