1936 Dodge Series D2 Business Coupe
By 1936 the Dodge Division of the Chrysler Corporation was producing some extremely beautiful Art Deco designed vehicles. The silhouettes of these cars were highly influenced by the new use of a wind tunnel to reduce wind resistance. All of that can be seen in the design of this car. Fender skirts became popular because of the desire to make the car more wind resistant but we think that the skirts accentuate the sleek looks of the car!
The car in this eBay listing is an original straight six engine with three-speed manual transmission. It may have had a mild restoration in the 1990s and is still a very nice street presentable car. There is no basic rust in any of the parts and the panels are straight. Please note that some photos show that the fender skirt is not on the car but the car does come with both fender skirts. However the car is missing one of the four hubcaps. The car has been owned for 18 years.
Radio, heater and all gauges are working.
The car comes with an original side view mirror.
Running board material could use replacing.
The interior and headliner are believed to be original and are in very presentable condition.
The Ram hood ornament and grille are very nice.
This car runs exceptionally well and has always been maintained and can cruise at highway speeds and can get up to 70-80 mph if necessary.
In the past few years the brake system has been completely gone over and the car has been tuned up.
The tires have good tread but are about ten years old. The spare tire has never been used.
The car drives straight and stops straight and is a wonderful tour car.
One thing is for sure, the chances of you seeing another 1936 Dodge Business Coupe at the local car show is highly remote. This is a very rare model that is extremely good looking and fun to drive!
