Description

For sale at No Reserve is this brilliant 1957 Dodge D100 Sweptside! One of less than 1,100 built in 1957, this one is very well preserved, having undergone a cosmetic restoration many years ago.
I purchased it out of Montana/Idaho area about 9 years ago, and always intended on refurbishing it and getting it back on the road, but never have found the time. However, my loss is your gain! I'm offering it for sale to the highest bidder and I'll throw in all the parts in the bed that I gathered for it over the years.
The truck is equipped with the top-of-the-line 315ci V8 engine, and the 3-speed column-shift manual transmission. I last had the engine running 8 years ago, but it still turns over and has been stored in my climate-controlled shop. The chassis/drivetrain are in excellent shape, as you will see in the photo gallery. No damage or repairs evident. Has full dual exhaust that was installed before I got it. I do not have the air-cleaner, but otherwise the engine is complete.
Odometer reads 37,604, but I assume mileage to be 137,604 or unknown. Title shows mileage to be "Exempt"
The interior was redone decades ago in a mild-custom style. But the seat is very comfortable and the panels are all intact. I do have a set of replacement wood door panels that go with the sale. No idea if gauges work, brakes/clutch are non-operational, but the Emergency Brake does work! Floors are solid, no rust evident, I have numerous photos from the underside to show this.
The body was repainted decades ago, and is a good 20-foot paint job. There is some amateur-quality filler material in the lower quarters, but as you can see from the backside, no rust in the metal! The driver's side door has filler all along the lower sill that's starting to crack. No idea why, but the passenger side-door is clean and straight. There's cracks around body seams, scratches, flaking, etc.. Pics should show the paint condition well enough. It really needs to be redone to be show-ready.
Only rust I can find in the truck is the battery tray, there should be a photo in the gallery showing the minimal damage present.
The stainless trim has dings, scratches, etc... and has been cut and screwed in places, hopefully the photos show these flaws. It will either need to be refurbished or replaced.
Missing the front "D" letter.
Chrome is very nice on the bumpers, no major dings or dents.
The bed floor is solid, but the coating on the wood is flaking off and should be redone. Tailgate works just fine but is missing the rubber stops on the bumper to avoid over-extension.
Both side door glass is cracked, but it's easy to replace these flat pieces. Front windshield and back window are both in very nice shape as well as the the vent windows. Seals are old and leak a little bit, which is why I've always stored it indoors.
Tires hold air but are weather-checked and should be replaced. Truck will need to be trailered.
Overall, it's a very complete and solid Sweptside project. I know these can bring crazy money at the big auctions when they're fully restored, but I'll let the new buyer be the one to get this one to that level.
I need the space in my shop, and would love to see it go to a new home where it can get finished, so I'm selling it at no-reserve!
