Description

I have owned the 1969 Dodge Coronet 500 Convertible for over 15 years. It has been garaged the whole time. It has only be used in the summer. Before I owned it, the car came from a long time collector in Arkansas. Since 1988, it has only been driven 6,800 miles. It has given me and my family immense fun. It is a joy to drive, particularly on a summer's day. With the bench seats front and back, it seats 6 or 7 adults or numerous small children. When one puts the gas pedal to the floor, the engine crescendos to a mighty roar which can be heard a mile away! It elicits screams of joy from anyone in the car. It is the ultimate fun summer car for cruising around or going to the ice cream stand. It generates stares and “thumbs up”s from other drivers. Whenever parked people always ask about it. It is car to be noticed in. I will be sad to see it go; I am only selling because I am buying a 1960s British sports car.

As you can see from the photos, it is one of the rare convertibles that looks great either with the roof down or up. The roof is in excellent condition as is the power mechanism for raising it automatically. The bodywork is in good condition; there are a couple of small cracks in the paintwork. There are no signs of rust. The bench seats are in good condition with the exception of the driver's side which is worn.

It has the original 383 V8 four barrel engine with a 10.0:1 compression ratio. It generates 330 HP at 5,000 rpm with torque of 425 lbs. ft at 3,200 rpm. It has a dual exhaust system. Hence why it makes such a wonderful roar when accelerating. It is fast too. It has only 54,430 miles on the odometer. It takes premium gas. It is easy to drive being factory fitted with the 727 TorqueFlite column-shifted automatic transmission. It starts every time and runs smoothly.

This is a rare example of the 1969 Dodge 500 Coronet convertible. Only 178 were made with the 383 four barrel engine and automatic transmission. It was assembled in the plant in St. Louis, Missouri.

I have the original 1969 Coronet brochure and also the Operator's Manual.
