Description

For sale is a 1976 Ford F-250 Ranger XLT which is a stock high boy and has a clean title. This is a 4-speed and has 4WD with both 4WD high and low. I purchased this truck in 2010 from a friend who rebuilt the majority of the interior. This truck was originally meant to be a restoration project, but I simply don't have the time to do so now.
When I purchased the truck there were roughly 9,000 miles on the engine. There are now 26,906 miles. This was rebuilt with a 390 engine, the original short gears were traded out for taller gears, the transmission and transfer case were both rebuilt, and I believe an Edelbrock carburetor was installed. The brakes, axle bearings and hubs, gaskets, radiator and radiator support, and hoses were also replaced. Posi-traction was also included in both the front and rear. I also put a new battery in about a year ago, and it is essentially brand new.
The camper shell and roof rack are included in this sale. There is also wiring for a 4-pin trailer light hookup and a hookup in the bed for a 5th wheel style trailer.
I have not driven this truck as much lately, but it still runs and sounds great. There are a few minor issues to be aware of as well. The bumper is bent outward but can be replaced fairly inexpensive. The tires were becoming worn when I last drove this. Specifically, the right front tire has an air leak and shows the most wear. Both doors do not close completely. They will not come open, but they do not latch as tight as they are supposed too. This is a result of the front shims under the body being too compressed. This is a simple fix with a pry bar and new shims. The power steering system has a small leak, and anyone familiar with these trucks knows that is an issue with many of these trucks. There is also some rust and corrosion on the body, the majority of which is in the rear wheel wells. Again, this is another inherent issue with these trucks and can be fixed with replacement panels from LMC. Because I haven't driven this much lately, the engine and interior parts are all a bit dirty but all work great.
Finally, the interior of the truck is in good condition. The seat cover and seat are worn on the driver's side, the panel on the driver's side door is missing, and the radio is not in very good condition. Oil pressure, battery voltage, temperature, and RPM gauges have been installed. The "pin-up" girl shown is also included.
I will include a basket of spare parts with the sale of this truck. I do not recall what parts I have but nothing significant, simply random parts.
This is a great truck for someone who needs a reliable vehicle and doesn't mind making a few minor fixes. This is also a great project truck which was my original plan.
I recently had an eBay sale on this truck fall through due to a failure to pay. If you do not intend to pay, please do not bid on this item.
