This Fastback is a great looking car with an impressive pedigree. It is an older restoration with the typical 'Patina' of a car well enjoyed. The 351 sounds intoxicating, add in the 4 speed and it will make you do bad things. When you want a 'fun' fastback, this is what you look for.
The single repaint of Wimbledon White paint on this one is showing its age with stone chips and other minor imperfections. A pearl clear coat was applied years ago and is starting to flake off in places. It is obvious on close inspection, but as you can see in the photos, it isn't easily noticed on a casual inspection. The bright trim is in good condition, the panels line up nicely and the car just has a nice, proper look.
Hailing from the sun-drenched eastern half of our state, this Fastback has survived the common ravages of rust. The floors, frame rails, torque boxes, trunk metal, etc are all the original units. The only sign of rust I could find was a small bubble in the front corner of the passenger door.
The interior looks very clean and proper. New carpet and seat upholstery was just professionally installed. The dash bezel panels were also recently replaced. The tight fitting upholstery and fresh bezels look great. This Fastback also has the coveted fold down rear seat.
Under the hood, the 351 Cleveland sounds incredible. This is a 4 Barrel Engine with the famed 4V heads. A Comp 'Mutha-Thumper' cam was installed along with long tube headers and Flowmaster equipped exhaust. You Really Need to hear this motor. With a very noticeable lope to the idle and a razor quick rev, you just can't help smiling every time you fire it up. Out on the road, the BFG's are horribly over-matched in 1st & 2nd gear. Prodigious amount of tire smoke will make you smile and the roar of the engine will make you laugh like you are 16 again.
The 4 Speed is none other than the Toploader. These are widely recognized as the best 4 speeds of the Muscle Car Era. Look inside a Tremec transmission and you will see the Toploader internals. The shift linkage is a Hurst Competition Plus unit for quick, reliable shifts. These transmissions regularly eat speed shifts and full drag strip launches on slicks.
Out back lives a heavy duty 9" differential. Again, not much to worry about as the 9" is the basis for nearly all differential upgrades.
The wheels are brand new reproductions from Wheel Vintiques. These are the 15 x 7 units. The BF Goodrich tires are brand new 245 60's in back and 225 60's in the front. They fill up the wheel wells perfectly.
