1968 Mustang Fastback GT S Code Survivor Car. One of One, numbers matching
Description
This car is an original survivor car that is a rare color and has some rare options. According to the Marti Report and statistics it is a one of one car. It is a very good and original car. I planned on keeping it for myself and restoring it over time, but have decided to sell it now. It has the original engine, trans and 9 inch rear end that came in it. It still has the correct breather, snorkel, S pip, heat shield, distributor, carburetor, and radiator. Those are all very hard to find parts. The smog system that came on the car is not there. So far I replaced the heater core and hoses, Installed a new battery and fan belts as well as a new fan shroud and radiator support seal. I installed a used Holly carb that had been rebuilt so I could drive the car while the original carb. was rebuilt. The original carb is not rebuilt yet but it comes with the car. I tuned the engine up and cleaned it and the engine compartment and painted it up the best you can without removing it just to help the appearance while I was working on it. I went ahead and installed new front and rear bumpers and the tail light bezels for the same reason. I replaced the Brake Booster with an original rebuilt one as well as the master cylinder. The rear brake pads and wheel cylinders were replaced along with new front brake pads. The car runs well and drives and stops good but I have not driven it a lot. If you intend on driving the car home you need to come and drive it for yourself and make that decision on your on, It is a 40 year old car and is being sold as is. Its a very good car and runs well but has not been driven enough for me to make that judgement. I did not do anything to the underneath of the car, It is still dirty and original. It has a few pin holes in the original floors but not bad enough where I would replace them but that will be the buyers call. It has a little rust around the right rear wheel well and a few pinholes on the same lower quarter panel. The original hood was damaged in my shop before I fixed the brakes on it, so I replaced it with a used ford hood and sprayed it with black primer till I painted the car. All the lights inside and out work. The original tach and instruments all work as well as the dash lights and radio. The interior looks like it has never been out of the car. It needs the headliner replaced and there is a tear in the seam of the bench seat under the arm rest.
