Body & Paint: The two-tone paint was done with current Ford colors. "Sonic Blue" code: "SN" and "Satin Silver" Code: "TL". The paint has a very deep shine with no oraage peel. It does have a few road chips and some small bubbles on the lower right rear fender behind the tire. (See close up photo #33.) The flames have an airbrushed shadowing effect giving them a 3D look. A lime green hand painted pinstripping separates the two colors. There is some separation (cracks) between the fenders and the body on both sides. (See photos #40 and #41) The body and fenders are all steel. Sections of the body panels behind both doors were replaced along with both quarter panels. The floor pans are all still original to the vehicle. The front grille section and rear license plate facia are the only pieces that are fiberglass. Both door handles have been removed along with the trunk handle. Remote doors, but don't work real well. May need some adjusting or fine tuning. The trunk release works fine. The headlights are frenched in. A California Car cover will go along with the vehicle also.
Chrome & Trim: All of the chrome has been removed along with the door and trunk handles. There is one piece of stainless steel trim along the running board area that is in good condition. The chrome light bezels, dual mirrors, and the window trim pieces are all in great condition with no pitting. The taillights have the "Blue Dot" inserts.
Interior: The interior is in very good condition. It is done with faux black leather. There are no rips, tears, cracks or holes. The seats are black and the headliner and door panels are gray. Even Though these "Business Coupes" didn't have back seats originally, this vehicle was modified and does have a backseat area which is pretty roomy. The dash chrome trim pieces all look very nice with no pitting. All of the electrical items are in great working condition. This includes the white faced VDO gauges, lights, wipers, horn and a Sony AM/FM/CD radio with power antenna. The original wiring harness was replaced with a new "Painless Performance" wiring harness. The owner would like to keep the glove box door that is signed by the members of Count's Kustoms from the TV show "Counting Cars." The owner does have another glove box door, all painted to match and will be installed before it is sold. The steering column has a tilt feature.
Glass: All of the glass pieces have been replaced and are in nice shape. The windshield has some minor scratches near the top, but no wiper marks. The two side windows roll up and down fine, but the driver's side is a little stiff going up. The two side vent windows have cranks that work well. (Not sure, but I think the "Super Deluxe" models came with crank out vent windows, dual ashtrays in the dash area, and 2 sunvisors which this vehicle all has.)
Engine Compartment: The engine compartment is clean but not detailed. Very little chrome. The engine is a 1972 Lincoln 400 with a 650 Holley. Please see the "Mechanical" section below for more details on what was done to the power plant.
Trunk Compartment: The trunk compartment has been finished and is very clean and neat looking. Behind the rear trunk panel hides the battery and the electrical relays for the door/trunk actuators. This hidden area is also a great place for a tool box or extra parts. (No spare tire or jack.) The trunk floor pans are still original to the vehicle and have no rust problems.
Wheels & Tires: The wheels have the classic look to them. Chrome reverse wheels with chrome baby moon hubcaps. All four wheels are in great condition. The fronts are 14" and the rears are 15". Mounted on these wheels are Viper TR Radials GT tires. The tires are also in great shape and still look almost new.
Undercarriage: The undercarriage is not detailed but is very solid. There is no undercoating or rust proofing hiding problem areas or past repairs. The frame is original as is the front end. The steering has been modified with a manual rack and pinion setup from Unisteer.
Nine times out of ten, people selling a car would not talk about or take any photos of the underside. The undercarriage tells you a lot about the car, that is why there are several pictures of the bottom in the photo gallery. Please view them all and see why this vehicle is better then most.
Mechanical: Engine-Transmission-Rear End:
This 400 cu. in. engine is from a 1972 Lincoln. It has a COMP Cam along with new rod bearings. The rocker arms have been changed to Crane Cams stud mounted aluminum rocker arms. It has a Pete Jackson timing gear drive. The distributor is a Mallory magnetic breakerless with a Promaster ignition coil. The engine does not smoke or burnt oil, but does leak a little. A new fuel pump was just installed. It feeds a 650 Holley carburetor. Keeping this power plant cool is a new aluminum radiator with an electric fan. The starter was rebuilt a few years and is still working great.
The transmission is a Ford C6 automatic that is working great. It shifts out nice and firm without any slipping. The rear end is a 9" Ford with a 355 Detroit Locker. The rear end is also working as it should with no known problems or noises.
A 1946 Chilton service manual will also go along with the sale of the vehicle.
Brakes:
The front brakes are disc and the rears are drum. There are no leaks or issues with the brake system. They were all adjusted and are working great. They do not pulsate, fade, or pull.
Exhaust:
The vehicle has headers that feed into a dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers. At the rear, the exhaust exits below the rear valance through Zodiac chrome exhaust tips. The vehicle sounds great.
