1981 Ford Thunderbird Heritage 83K, Rare Top-Of-The-Line Fox Body, Nevada Car
Description
Recently out of storage is my 1981 Thunderbird Heritage. I hate to, but moving forces me to sell.
The car is all original, with a brand new headliner, new brake booster and master cylinder, and a new alternator and regulator. Car spent it life near Reno, Nevada. I purchased it in May 2006 at an auction, and drove it all the way from Reno to St. Louis with no issues. The car has every option listed in the original sales brochure, except for the pop-up sunroof (a power moonroof was not an option), and the garage door opener. It has only been kept inside my garage, and driven periodically to keep everything moving. A month ago, I got it out, and started driving it around St. Louis. The car drives great, the brakes are good, all of the lights work, the glass is all in great condition, as well as the original padded vinyl roof. The vinyl roof does have 2 or 3 spots where it looks like a hail stone may have hit it, but is in great shape (see pic) from 5 feet. The car was lightly hit in the rear-end, back in 2005, which explains why it has a salvage title. The damage was very minor, the tail light housing and rear bumper/cover were replaced from a very nice donor car. The only trace of the damage is a small spot of peeled paint near the marker light (see pic). The salvage title does not affect the way the car drives or looks!
The car is TOTALLY RUST FREE!
Options included are: 5.0 (302) cubic inch V8 (largest engine available), 4 speed automatic overdrive transmission, climate controlled air conditioning, premium sound system with cassette (includes power antenna), leather seating, tilt and cruise, 6-way power driver seat, cornering lamps, opera and courtesy lamps, digital instrumentation, full body painted pin stripes, extra thick carpet, intermittent wipers, rear defrost. Everything works except the rear defrost, and the gas gauge can be moody at times. The air conditioner kicks on, but has not been converted to R-134A freon to make it cold. The correct factory aluminum mag wheels, as shown in the last picture, are included with this car (see trunk pic). I actually bought a car in Atlanta over 10 years ago just to get these wheels off of it. This car originally had them when it was new, but they were not on the car when I bought it. They are TRX wheels, and only Coker Tire handles the original Michelin tires that will fit these wheels. The wheels are in excellent shape with no curb rash, and include all 4 original center caps. The car is located in St. Louis, MO, and I can deliver at $1 per loaded mile (plus tolls) on my flatbed trailer. Although the car runs and drives at highway speeds just fine, the tires on it are now 12 years old, and although they show no cracking, I am not sure how far or long I would trust them. The car starts easily, drives straight, and has no rattles. Factory spare has never been on the ground. This car has a few body dings that are typical a a 36 year old vehicle.
The title will be available next month, since it is buried in a storage unit out of state.
