1966 Ford F250 Survivor, Barn Find, Patina, South Dakota Truck
Description
Barn Find Survivor.
This is a really cool old truck and it gets a lot of looks. Drive it like it is, or take it to the next level.
Here are the details,
I purchased this truck from a local farmer who'd owned it for nearly a decade. He used it on and off to haul hay with the aspirations of a restoration. He said he bought it from the original owner. (I have no records to prove that claim only his word.) The truck was originally from South Dakota and has not been a daily driver in Minnesota with little to no winter use.
This truck still wears most of it's original paint with some wonderful patina here and there. This truck has never been restored. It's just simply been maintained over the years as needed. Recent maintenance includes front brake shoes, hoses and a new carburetor.
The interior is still original including factory seat and factory rubber floor mat. The dash pad has a single crack in it. The heater, dash lights and gauges are fully operational.
The Factory Radio Still Works!!!!
The engine is the factory 352 with a four speed manual transmission. This truck starts right up and runs well. It doesn't knock or have excessive smoke. It doesn't overheat and can be driven at will. I haven't driven it farther than a 100 mile journey but it made it fine. The engine has a generous coating of grease and grime but it doesn't leave any major stains on the ground when parked. The clutch works properly and doesn't slip.
The undercarriage is solid with minor rust in the typical areas. Lower rear cab corners have some rust as do a few body mounts underneath. The door posts are solid and the doors open and close straight with no body flex. It's way above average for a MN truck and is very drivable and useable as is.
This truck is a perfect truck to just drive and enjoy. It gets lots of looks and you can drive it without that show car guilt. Ford introduced the twin I beam front suspension in this truck to give it a very comfortable ride. There's really no need to pay more for a F100 in this era of truck.
The F250 has slightly higher spring rates than the F 100 but it still has a good ride quality on the road. It has larger brakes and if your plan is to simply drive the truck it's very useable for towing trailers etc. It's a perfect Candidate for a Cummins swap. It's also a wonderful platform for an air suspension swap or modern engine and chassis conversion. So many options with this one. It deserves to be preserved and cared for.
