Description

1966 Ford Mustang Convertible Rotisserie Restored Restomod Superior handling, power, comfort, options, and reliability in a meticulously restored vintage 1966 Mustang Convertible body make this car the definition of restomod; restored and modified. It runs, drives, looks, sits, and sounds incredible. The paint, fit, finish, and attention to detail are show quality. It is truly a joy to drive and it draws a crowd wherever it is. A little over thirteen hundred "shakedown" and advertising miles since June 2017 completion ofdocumented build. Numerous subtle and structural modifications and improvements were made while outwardly staying true the original. Underside reinforced with subframe connectors, center floor brace including driveshaft loop. Custom made semi-hidden front cage assembly making an incredibly stiff structure while providing for a smooth ride and allowing for an unobstructed rigid engine compartment. Rear wheel wells are mini tubbed with 2" wider inner wheel houses. Rear rails narrowed and reinforced for extra wide rear tire clearance and convertible rear seat inner body structure has been modified keeping stock appearance. While on rotisserie underside was refinished to original 1966 Mustang specs; red oxide floor, satin black engine compartment. Exterior received extensive fitting of new sheetmetal. Panels were cut, re-shaped, and welded as needed to achieve outstanding gaps and fit. 1967 Shelby style fiberglass hood, GT 350R front valance, Shelby side scoops, and GT rear valance were added for style. Car was block sanded multiple times before a modified original Ford code "X" vintage burgundy paint was applied. Finished clear coat has been wet block sanded flat prior to buffing and polishing to a mirror shine. BASF Glasurit products were used throughout including high solids clear. All exterior trim, lights, handles, weatherstrips, and bumpers have been replaced with new better quality or "concours" parts when available. Side mirrors have LED turn signal indicators and drivers is remote adjustable. All glass has been replaced; windshield is a Ford Carlite green tint/ blue shade, tinted vent assemblies, tinted door glass, and tinted quarter glass assemblies. All new so no pits, scratches, or wear. Front suspension is a Speedway Mustang II IFS with narrowed tubular control arms, dropped spindles, and adjustable coilovers. Wilwood 12" brakes with drilled & slotted rotors were added along with sway bar, power steering, and power steering cooler. Aluminum tandem master cylinder with adjustable proportioning valve and power brake booster have been frenched into the smoothed firewall for engine clearance. Rear suspension features a Control Freak triangulated four link with dual adjustable coilover shocks and adjustable sway bar. A new Currie 9" with performance axle package, 3.50 gear ratio, and a True Trac (gear type) posi differential were installed. Wilwood rear disc brakes with drilled & slotted rotors and parking brake were also added. American Racing 18x8 front, 18x10 rear "old school" grey center wheels continue the vintage 60's look. Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport tires 235/40/18 and 295/35/18 (nearly 12" wide) fill the wheel wells. 5.0 32v Coyote V8 painted 1966 Ford engine blue and installed on urethane mounts. Ford Racing Performance Control Pack wiring and computer with additional Dyno tuning by legendary Tasca Ford's Mod Shop. Video of the dyno pulls have been posted on youtube at "1966 Coyote Mustang Convertible Dyno Pull" 1 & 2. A SCT hand held tuner is included for additional custom tuning if desired.Custom cold air intake with K&N filter and factory engine appearance covers. Exhaust features Doug's ceramic coated long tube headers, Thrush welded mufflers, 2 1/2" X pipe and modified Flowmaster tailpipes with polished stainless tips exiting through the GT rear valance. Transmission is a Ford 4R70W four speed overdrive automatic shifted through a new original floor shifter with custom linkage. It is controlled by a MSD Atomic Transmission Controller and is custom programmable with an included hand held unit. An oversized transmission cooler has been fitted to the GT350R front valance to keep it cool. The wiring has been completely replaced and upgraded with an American Autowire Classic Update Series harness. All systems have been correctly integrated; engine control, transmission control, air conditioning, power windows, power top, lights, gauges, radio, and fuel pump with an inertia safety switch. The Optima battery has been relocated to the trunk and has a high amp fuse installed in line for safety. A new complete Deluxe Pony interior kit has been installed with TMI Sport II seats featuring improved bolsters for better seating while keeping original look. An ididit tilt steering column has been installed including an original steering wheel with new horn ring. The dash pad is a new OE tooling unit and a Drake instrument bezel and complete glovebox have been installed. A custom set of Speed Hut gauges including GPS 140 mph speedometer, 8k tachometer, oil pressure, water temperature, volt meter and fuel gauge have updated the dash. ACC carpet, matching Mustang logo carpeted floor mats, Drake Pony emblem seat belts. A Nu-Relics power four window kit compliments the restored factory power convertible top now covered in modern Stayfast canvas. Custom Autosound USA630 radio, Rockford Fosgate Punch series speakers, and hidden antenna. A Vintage Air air conditioning unit complete the interior and keep it cool. I have 30+ years of quality auto collision, restoration, and customization experience and I personally built this car. I have extensive documentation, two folders of receipts, and hundreds of photos during the 2000 hour almost three year build. It would be difficult to build this car for double my very fair "buy it now". All shipping costs are buyers responsibility. I have clean and clear title in my name andI'm happy to answer any questions.
