Description

Up for bid is a 1978 Ford Ranchero 500. Previous owner went through quite a bit of work on this car. It has the front end from what I believe is a 1978 Mercury Cougar, matching canopy and has had a Brougham interior put in. The gauge cluster from a GT has also been put in, but is not currently functioning properly. Interior is in passable condition, but seat-belts will need to be replaced as they are deteriorating. Driver side window does not seal 100%.
Previous owner also swapped in a 302 from a 1985 F-150. Have casting numbers that identify the motor. The original carb was replaced with and Edelbrock 650 CFM 4bbl. It is mated to the original FMX 3-speed automatic. Exhaust was also done and is dual pipes with glass-packs. Sounds great!
Brakes, suspension, tires are all in good condition. HD shocks put on a few months ago to stiffen the ride a bit. Currently sitting on all weather tires/wheels from a Jeep Cherokee, but do have the original molded wheels. The tires on the original wheels are cracking.
Overall condition of the car is alright, drove it to and from work for awhile, mechanically is fine. Paint isn't great, but there are no large patches of rust, or discoloration, it's simply getting dull.
There are electrical gremlins in the GT gauge cluster, but having never seen them work, I can't say if it's a problem with the cluster, or if things were never finished after the engine swap. Blower motor does not work either. Other than those, all other electrical works, including the original stereo & speakers. Added an FM line injector to plug a phone or MP3 player into.
Car has some documentation from the mid 2000's when the previous owners children pulled the car from storage and gave it a maintenance tune up to sell. I've had it for two years.
Please feel free to ask me any questions at all, I'd love this thing and want to see it go to a good home! Happy bidding!
