This Mustang is an original "C" code 289 V8 fastback that has essentially receiveda "nut and bolt" full restoration over the last five years. The car was media blasted and received new floors, quarters, doors, fenders, hood, valances, tail panel, deck lid, suspension, interior, wiring harness, weatherstripping, and pretty much nearly every new part or piece of chrome you can purchase from Scott Drake or NPD. (see below). The important fiberglass interior panels, fold down seat, and trap door are all original uncut Ford pieces. The car runs and drives and does not appear to be leaking. It currently has a four barrel intake and Edlebrock 4V carb. The car has "pony" interior seats and door panels. Literallyevery nut and bolt was removed during this restoration. The floors are spotless. An HEI electronic distributor was installed to replace the points distributor. It has a clear Arizona title in my name and is located in Payson Arizona.
History: This restoration was the labor of love of an elderly gentleman who was unable to quite finish the job due to health concerns. I bought the car from his family and purchased and installed the door glass, vent windows, and a few odds and ends to get the car to where it is now. I have driven it around town a bit, but not very long distances and would not feel comfortable driving it acrosscountry without thoroughly checking it out first. It starts easily and run smoothly. I assume the engine and transmission were rebuilt, but I don’t have documents regarding this work. At this time I would like to sell it as I'm being stationed overseas and do not want it to sit. I would say it is 99% complete with a few things that could be done to make it 100%
The flaws: The Gentleman who did the restoration for the most part did a quality job, but reached the limits of his abilities with this car. The base/clear steel blue metallicpaint job has a few flaws, namely there are a few spots where the base coat is a little light. Additionally some masking tape was left on the car for a very long time and when I removed it, it pealed the paint on the lower rocker on the drivers side and a little on the upper front valance. (this could easily be covered with rocker moldings) The car has been color sanded in spots and could use a good buff to really make it shine. Personally, I'm fine with the paint the way it is, but I wanted to share everything I know about it. The welding work on the floors and body panels is solid, but not show quality. Also because most the pieces are aftermarket, the door/fender gaps are not perfect. The fold down seat needs to be adjusted as it rubs on the fiberglass panel. The steering needs to be aligned. The wipers and heater motor are there and work but need to be plugged into the new harness. There is a small dent in the passenger door from when I had it towed to my house, but otherwise the car is very very straight and does not appear to have much if any body filler in it. The dual exhaust rattles a little and could use additional hangers at the back (included). Mostly, I have just run out of time to make it perfect before I leave overseas. I know this is a lot of money to pay for a car sight unseen, so please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have.
