1964 THUNDERBIRD
This car was purchased new at Kirby Ford in Portland, Oregon. The second local ownerbought it in 1970. It was purchased out of her garage recently and she was 90 years old.
It was repainted years ago and the color has held up well. Probably rated better than driver quality with few flaws due to its 52 years. The body rubber in some areas needs replaced. The glass in in excellent shape. The stainless moldings are all nice. The chrome is original and very good for its age. Except for several indentations the sides are laser straight and the hood, trunk and doors fit and shut beautifully. The original color is called Samoan Coral and is a one year only color. One of the top parts distributors for these Thunderbirds said, "This is an extremely rare color in 1964."
The interior is nice everywhere. The dash, seats, carpets, door panels and headliner are original and exceptional for their age. The chrome trim on the consul and around the dash is well preserved. The radio and heater work. Dash lights, power windows, gauges, turn signals and head lights work fine. The gas gauge does not work.It has the functioning tilt-a-waysteering column.
There are around $6,000 in receipts in the past 6 months due to it sitting in her garage for an extended period. The motor runs like a watch. The transmission shifts smoothly and the brakes work well. Drives beautifully at 65 MPH. It has new exhaust. The undercarriage is nice with no excessive rust.
The trunk is nice with the original jack and instructions. The tires are new. The Samoan Coral color is extremely rare. The mileage is believed to be correct at 56,898 and easy to believe due to the well preserved condition.
