1965 Ford Thunderbird Special Landau in UNRESTORED ORIGINAL CONDITION

VIN# 5Y87Z144116 -The Special Laundau was made to commemorate the 10th Anniversary of the T-Bird.Only 4500 were made.They all came in the metallic bronze color (Emberglow) and the tan interior and vinyl roof (Parchment)

Car originated in the high desert of Southern California (Palmdale) where it spent about 25 years in a barn/garage.Brought back to life and driven from CA to NY in 2012.I purchased it in 2012 with approx. 92,000 original miles on it.It presently has approx. 103,600 miles on it.I have been using it consistently for the last six years for summer driving errands.

Original 390 Cubic inch engine with Holley 4-Barrel Carburetor and C5 transmission. Air conditioning and vacuum tubing systems of climate control not repaired but Heater/Defroster rigged to be on and fan works manually (off, slow and fast). Very reliable, runs great, starts easily (pump twice then turn key).

Needs cosmetic restoration. Top surfaces of paint are faded and the driver’s seat has some slit seams (taped to prevent them from splitting further). Windscreen shelf has two cracks. Only mild surface rust on exterior spots. Small amount of paint rust through spots on passenger door - seems to have been repainted in this area a long time ago. Plus lowest section of passenger window seems to have been repaired a long time ago Vinyl top has uniform cracking and alligatoring but no major tears. Windscreen has an old pebble ding that is about 1/2 inch around but it has not gotten any worse since I purchased the car and the car always passes the annual New York State Safety inspection. Side vent windows do not operate with hand crank. All rubber on car should be replaced (window trim, trunk gasket) I also recommend new tires). Engine hoses and belts in good condition.

Interior head liner is sound. Original brown carpet is worn but its there. Original tan floor mats included. All interior and dash lights work. Only instrument that is non- functional is the ammeter. Trunk interior is surface rusted but covered with a rug remnant. Removed original parts are in trunk in photo including radiator and condenser. Fender skirts are in excellent condition - no rust. Underside of car is very sound and solid with a light coating of surface rust.

Recent Mechanical Repairs by OWNER:

All new brakes – new master cylinder and booster, calipers, shoes, pads, hoses, lines – all installed in 2012.

New Power Steering – Steering box, fabric joint – installed in 2012.

New all copper NOS (FOMOCO) Radiator in 2016

Two new NOS mufflers installed in 2014

Original AM Radio works intermittently on a few stations, Clock nonfunctional. New Battery Installed in 2017.

I installed a secreted engine start cut off Anti-Theft Device of my own design in 2014 – very unique.

New Spare tire, new California air filter, oil filter, fuel filter, points, condenser, distributor, spark plugs, wires, hoses, oil pressure sending unit, neutral safety switch, starter solenoid, belts, digital tail-light sequencer, hydraulic wiper motor in 2012/2013.Transmission serviced by MB transmissions (in Patterson NY) in 2013. All original replacement parts from Bobs Bird House, Delaware. Most parts removed have been kept in trunk for posterity.

Original shop manual and wiring diagrams, bumper jack included.Original hubcaps.

Six year old Fitted Car Cover included at no charge if you want it - but it has some rips.

All-in I have over $8000 invested to make it a safe everyday driver. My daughter drove it to High School every day in summer/winter of 2013 and 2014.
