This 1989 Ford Ranger XLT 5-Speed Standard Cab Long Bed RWD is an original CA vehicle purchased from the original owner. In the 20+ years spent in our family's ownership, religious maintenance, minor repairs, and performance upgrades have been done, including a complete repaint in 2015.
Power is provided thru a 2.9L V6 Cologne Engine matted to a 5-speed Manual gearbox. The clutch and all components were replaced in 2016. Clean/Clear Texas title. Odometer is true to the 150k miles it shows. Ford Blue; Grey/Blue interior with chrome finish and trim distinguish the truck as an XLT model.
Truck has never been off-road, flooded, hail-damaged or used for towing. Has typical wear (rock chips, few dings and scratches) as I used this primarily during cold weather, hence the low miles as this is not driven as much during the Texas summer heat months (July-August).
It recently passed Texas State Inspection in March 2019, however is not currently registered. Too many vehicles in my household to insure/register/maintain.Headliner and sun visors were re-upholstered.
THE BAD:
No A/C - The A/C Compressor needs to be replaced. Has not had AC for a while.
Rear tires - will need new tires soon as they are driveable, however in the 5/32"s of tread left.
Random small oil leak - I notice a very small dime-size droplet of oil every few months ONLY when parked on an incline. Not enough to worry about to leave oil stains or drip or have to top off oil, etc.
Wear and tear - The Driver's seat has several tears after 30 years of use. I've had a seat cover over it that was removed to take pictures. Has a few chips on the windshiled and about a 2 inch "crack" on the lower passenger side of the glass.
GOOD:
List of items replaced listed below. I have a folder and box full of reciepts with warranty information (lifetime warranty on brakes, radiator, 3 year on battery, etc, etc.) that carries over to the new Owner(s). All buttons/knobs/switches work - the Heater, Defroster, wipers, lights, horn, all that. This truck makes an excellent alternative vehicle. Great to learn how to drive a "Standard". Dash is near perfect as the "faded" carpeted dash cover has protected it all these years. Drives perfectly on the road at any speed, with no rattles, shakes, noises, etc. No alignment issues or steering problems. Shifts are smooth and consistent (does not buck or bang) and cabin is quiet enough for you to hear the engine (for those who shift-by-ear along with RPM's).
Does have manual door locks and windows. no cruise control or tilt/telescopic. Both seats are adjustable (sliding) not height. Engine is near bulletproof and starts every time without hesitation. Average about 22 mpg on regular (87 octane) fuel. This is a truck that has stood the test of time and can hang with any of the new cars on the road today. It's getting a lot harder to find a small truck with carrying capacity that is good on gas and has enough power for tougher jobs.
Has the following features:
·Sliding split rear window
·14 inch wheels
·60/40 split front bench folding seats with armrest
·CD Player with AM/FM/MP3
