Description
This 1989 Ford Ranger XLT 5-Speed Standard Cab Long Bed RWD is an original CA vehicle purchased from the original owner. In the 28+ years spent in our family's ownership, religious maintenance, minor repairs, and performance upgrades have been done, including a complete repaint in 2015.
Power is provided thru a 2.9L V6 Cologne Engine matted to a 5-speed Manual gearbox. The clutch and all components were replaced in 2016. Clean/Clear Texas title. Odometer is true to the 150k miles it shows. Ford Blue; Grey/Blue interior with chrome finish and trim distinguish the truck as an XLT model.
Truck has never been off-road, flooded, hail-damaged or used for towing. Has typical wear (rock chips, few dings and scratches).
List of items replaced listed below. I have a folder and box full of reciepts with warranty information (lifetime warranty on brakes, radiator, 3 year on battery, etc, etc.) that carries over to the new Owner(s). All buttons/knobs/switches work - the Heater, Defroster, wipers, lights, horn, all that. Dash is near perfect thanks to the custom (faded now) carpeted dash cover.
Drives perfectly on the road at any speed, with no rattles, shakes, noises, etc. No alignment issues or steering problems. Shifts are smooth and consistent (does not buck or bang) and cabin is quiet enough to eliminate wind noise.
Has manual door locks and windows. no cruise control or tilt/telescopic. Both seats are adjustable (sliding), but not seat height. Engine is near bulletproof and starts every time without hesitation.
XLT trim includes:
·Sliding split rear window
·14 inch wheels
·60/40 split front bench folding seats with armrest
·SONY CD Player with AM/FM/MP3

THE BAD:
- It recently passed Texas State Inspection in March 2019, however registration has now expired.
- No A/C - The A/C Compressor needs to be replaced. Has not had AC for a while.
- Rear tires - will need new tires soon as they are driveable, however in the 5/32"s of tread left.
- Valve cover gasket will need replacement as it does tend to leak oil particularly from the driver's side. A "Fel-Pro" Valve Cover Gasket set is about $14, however I don't have the time to remove the intake/gas lines to replace myself.
- Wear and tear - The Driver's seat has several tears after 30 years of use. I've had a seat cover over it that was removed to take pictures. Has a few chips on the windshiled and about a 2 inch "crack" on the lower passenger side of the glass.
Price reflects the cost the replacement of brakes all around, battery, new headlights/turn signals/chrome bumper (LMC truck parts) and state inspection - which totaled just under $1000 alone for parts and labor.
This is a very easy vehicle to work on, with parts readily available at mostly any local auto parts store. Not having A/C has only diminished the use of this truck and kept miles low.
Thanks for looking and good luck bidding. Please note the vehicle is also being sold locally. This listing will be removed when/if sold locally.
Also, Please note that the Buyer is responsible for local pickup/shipping of vehicle. A $50 deposit is required 24hrs upon auction ending via Paypal to "hold" vehicle. Please contact me for any additional questions/comments/concerns - or additional pictures. Cash or Cashier's Check only. No Personal checks. Test-drives are welcomed and very highly encouraged to experience what this truck has to offer. Price is very, very slightly negotiable (due to no a/c and will need new tires) - as there is a LOT invested in this and will not require much maintenance for a long time.
