When it comes to the new group of classics, this Cobra is king. Packing rarity, power, and poise all in an iconic package, this 39,565 actual mileage 1993 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra is a fine example of the next wave of collectable American muscle cars. The third-generation Mustang was having its swan song in 1993, but the Special Vehicle Team (SVT) at Ford decided to send it off with something extraordinary. They made this final year the one... and only time for the Cobra package. The outside was given subtle upgrades with a new grille up front, vintage pony emblem in place of the blue oval, and chrome cobras on the fenders. The rear has some interesting features such as a unique SVT spoiler, and a new light arrangement not seen since the ultra-rare Mustang SVO. The 7-spoke, 17-inch aluminum wheels are unique to these one-year only Cobras, and as a nice added touch, all four have been polished to a mirror shine. These modified wheels and the chrome exhaust tips bring the perfect bright contrast to the deep black of this midnight racer. While most Mustang fans already know how special this one is, it is worth mentioning that there were less than 5,000 Cobras produced in 1993, and only 1,854 were black. There is no telling how many met their untimely death, or have so high mileage that you wouldn't even take a second glance. This one is certainly worth your time! The interior is where a new classic like this Cobra really shines because there is a lot of modern integration. After all, where else is there a car this cool that comes with an airbag? The bucket seats are still in pristine condition thanks to the meticulous owners (only a two owner car). They have real bolstering to make long trips vastly more comfortable and supportive than an older vintage. Another advantage of driving a new classic is a factory-installed HVAC system that can blow some serious arctic air all day long. Best of all, this Mustang already comes with a CD player, so go dust off those Bon Jovi CDs and get ready to embarrass your children on the way to school. If you want to get even more modern, the standardized stereo mounting means you can easily switch this out for the latest technology (bluetooth, iPod, satellite radio, GPS, etc.) without damaging the interior or harming the ability to re-install the original factory radio. Plus, this coupe is loaded with factory options such as power driver's seat, power windows, power locks, power mirrors, rear defroster, and even fold-down rear seats that quickly expand the very clean cargo area. Rarity, lower mileage, and fantastic condition gives this Cobra desirability, but where it earns its value is in the engineering. The SVT department started out with the trusty 5.0-liter V8 block, and then did some in-house shopping at Ford Motorsports. This includes the larger valves of the GT-40 cylinder head package, high-flow fuel injectors, performance camshaft, revised computer programming, and a GT-40 cast aluminum intake. For a little extra kick, this one has been upgraded with longtube headers that feed an X-pipe exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers, providing an added rumble that can easily scare the neighbors. So, beyond the already extreme performance of the factory Cobras, it is safe to say that this one produces even more grunt than Ford's conservative 235 hp advertised rating. Ford also beefed up the clutch and the dependable Borg Warner T-5 five-speed manual to make sure all the power is handled reliably. The performance package was topped off with suspension upgrades such as a smaller anti-roll bar up front, improved rear springs, and four-wheel disc brakes. Just like the clean interior and exterior, the 39,565 current mileage (barely over 1,500 per year) suggests this car was a treasured coupe from day one. This Cobra is the way to be interesting without being uncomfortable. You can buy into new classic performance royalty for less than a new V8 Mustang, and have coolest car on the block. Call today!
