1986 Ford F250. Solid running truck. For Ranch, Farm, Work, or Restoration Project. PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE LISTING BEFORE MAKING AN OFFER!!!
Former Coca Cola plant truck. Low miles, but still beat up. When I got it, it had about 35k miles on it, but those were all short-distance, stop and go miles. It was fleet- maintained, but used and abused at the plant. I've put another 35k miles on it. At one point, I drove it to IL and back. It made it there and back just fine.
What's Good:
Solid running original 460 engine.Factory rebuilt oem transmission, new last year.Transmission cooler, new last year.Radiator, new last year.Front and rear drive shafts, rebuilt last year.Water pump, new about three years ago.All 4wd parts work splendidly. All of the glass.
IN THE INTEREST OF FULL DISCLOSURE, HONESTY, AND ETHICS:
What needs help:
This truck WOULD NOT PASS A CA SMOG two years ago. It is registered in NV, but the registration is lapsed two years. The truck is being sold AS IS. The buyer must agree to those terms and agree that the buyer will get the truck smogged, and the buyer will agree to do any repairs necessary to pass a CA or NV smog.
All the smog components are there, but may need to be repaired or replaced. It's a vehicle that must be smogged, but it's a non-catalyst truck. So it must have a smog pump, filter, pcv valve, and another thing or two under the hood. It isn't required to have a cat-converter. The carb may need to be rebuilt. All of the under-the-hood parts are there. In what condition? I don't know. Buyer will be responsible for repairing or replacing them if necessary.
Body has no rust, and is pretty straight, except for a deep scratch on the bed, passenger side, that I put on it a couple years ago. There's a slight bend in the right front quarter-panel that only shows up in certain light, at certain angles. Most folks would miss it unless they were looking for it. There's a dent in the front rail of the bed that IS noticeable, where a slide-in camper came down wrong.
The interior is ok, but plain. It was a commercial truck. The seat has a tear on the driver's side. It's covered by a seat cover, which has a tear in the passenger side.
What needs to be replaced:
Tires: Bald. You could drive the truck as far as Mammoth, but I wouldn't take any major road trips in it.Speedometer: doesn't work.Windshield wipers, need to be replaced.Windshield washer, needs repaired or replaced.AC: Non-existant. Must be added.Rearview mirror on the windshield. The mirror is under the seat. Must be re-attached.The rims are good, but not pretty. OEM. The lug holes are not worn out, but there are some rear wheel lugs, both bolts and nuts, that should be replaced. A tire guy once cross-threaded them.Hood-release lever needs a new end/handle.Brakes: The master cylinder is good, but the brakes need a good going-over. I've driven down a mountain, smoked them, gotten them spongy, pumped them back up, and have driven on them in the months since. They work fine so far, but get them checked.Needs stereo replaced. It has two ok, but not fancy, speakers.I have to open the driver's side door from the inside by reaching through the window and opening it from the outside. Hardware inside must be replaced.Yeah, that sounds like a lot of stuff, but that's because I'm honest enough to tell you. I'll give you all the dirt up front - no shocks, no surprises.
Thank you for stopping by.
