1931 Ford Model A Deluxe Delivery NO RESERVE
Description
'Walt' I have been told was bought decades ago at a Disney auction, and used for many years as a travel vehicle. Upgraded with a Borg Warner overdrive and a downdraft Cragar intake, 'Walt' pulled a pop-up trailer to Alaska. Reportedly purchased new as a company vehicle for the Walt Disney Studio. This Deluxe Delivery also has an unusual serial number with an AX prefix indicating a factory experimental vehicle. Although many production and delivery records were lost to fire, the Benston Research Center proposed the delivery was built with the early flat firewall and the late fuel tank to validate a factory kit to install the later body supported steering column mount and upgraded fuel tank to address fuel leaks in the early design tanks. Fords built after this one generally had the indented firewall, this one does not. Around the turn of the century Don Ruskin bought the delivery as an amazing survivor and shipped it from California to Virginia only to have life get in the way and 'Walt' again changed hands and found a new home in Florida. The Church family had fun driving around but it was determined the old guy was showing his age so an expensive, Snyder, touring engine was bought, installed and driven. This only validated the need for further restoration. I bought 'Walt' from Denise Church after the passing of her husband, The Church family had invested heavily into 'Walt', a touring intake and exhaust manifold set, with a weber carburetor, and stainless exhaust, replaced the old downdraft Cragar system. A V8 clutch drives the new Mitchell synchronized transmission, and the rare Borg Warner Overdrive. The cooling system, brakes and steering all got upgrades. The amazing California body received thousands of dollars in new wood before the project was put on hold and eventually became mine.
