This 1976 Ford F-100 pickup is ready for whatever comes next. You need an affordable full-sized hauler that looks great and doesn't cost a lot of cash? Excellent choice. Looking for an affordable hobby vehicle with a sweet-running 302 and a handsome interior? Still an excellent choice. Or maybe you want something that can do a little bit of both, have fun on weekends and still do a few chores around the house. And again, this Ford delivers in a big way.Bright red has been a perennial favorite for pickup trucks since day one, so when this Ford was repainted a few years ago, it got a fresh coat of red enamel that still works really well. These trucks have a classic simplicity to their look and if you look up "pickup truck" in the dictionary, you'll probably see one just like this. But most trucks still working for a living don't look this good, so you know it was retired and treated right. Bodywork is quite straight and as a southern truck that spent its life in Georgia, you know major rust issues are not going to be a problem. Bright chrome bumpers add a great shot of eye candy and the simple grilles are so nice they must be reproductions or even NOS, but they could just be original on a really nice truck. The bed is protected by a spray-in bedliner, and you can see form its condition that this truck hasn't been asked to do any heavy lifting for a long time now.At first glance, the interior looks pretty stock, with a handsome seat cover that features the funky patterns that Ford was using in the mid-1970s. That's the original bench underneath, and the factory gauges, and glove box are in good shape. Reproduction door panels were installed at some point, along with new carpets on the floors and a plastic dash cover. The steering wheel is just about the only part starting to show its age, because everything else is so nice. The original AM radio is still in the dash, although if you're going to use this truck regularly, an off-the-shelf replacement might be an upgrade you'll want. And even though so much of the interior is recent, nothing really stands out as looking too old or too new, which gives it a very comfortable, functional look that's just right for a pickup truck. The 302 cubic inch V8 was rebuilt about 10,000 miles ago, so it's still pretty fresh and ready to enjoy. With great torque that's ideal for a pickup, the stout small block remains an entertaining powerplant with bulletproof reliability. The original air cleaner still lives up top and feeds the original Autolite 2-barrel carburetor, so it's not a radical build that will be problematic down the road. The valve covers, heads, block, and intake were all finished in traditional Ford Blue, and with power steering, you know this truck is easy to drive. Stock exhaust manifolds feed a single exhaust system, so it has that soft V8 sound without the annoying drone on the highway. There's also a C4 3-speed automatic transmission and stock 9-inch rear end so it's got the hardware to work or play equally well. Factory steel wheels are fitted with correct Ford hubcaps and relatively recent 235/75/15 whitewall radials.Coming out of long-term ownership, this nicely finished Ford needs nothing to do its job and offers a great look for the guy looking to enjoy the old truck hobby on weekends, too.
