Description
1962 Ford Econoline Pickup E-100 Runs and Drives Great! This is fun truck and excellent parts runner, This was a city maintenance truck in California originally which is the reason for the custom built tool boxes in the rear. The second owner who I bought it from drove it to IL from CA where he drove it until the late 80's when it was parked. I saved it from his yard, rebuilt the engine, all new brakes and tires and have been driving and enjoying it. What's been done to it:Engine Rebuilt with new rings, bearings and gaskets, showed little wear no overboreAll new ignition components including plugs, wires, cap, rotor, distributor, coilNew starterNew fuel pumpCarb rebuiltNew voltage regulatorGenerator disassembled and cleanedFuel tank, patched, cleaned and sealedNew batteryNew brake compenents, including, shoes, wheel cyls, rubber hoses, and master cyl rebuilt. and taillight switchNew General Altimax TiresFord Ranger 14" wheelsWheel bearings repackedNew rear glassNew water pumpNew beltNew ThermostatFresh fluids
The Truck runs and drives out great, it has 170 cubic inch straight 6 engine backed by a 3 on the tree transmission. It shifts smooth, the ride is acceptable for a 54 year old truck, its comfortable at about 55mph on the highway although it can go faster, The brakes stop welland straight. Its a driver and has been used as such. I see no reason why it couldn't be driven home if you want to take on the adventure although due to its age I will not guarantee it, I'd trailer it if you live a long distance away just to be safe.
Things I know don't work and would need to be addressed:The Fuel and Temperature gauges do not work. Fuel gauge is due the sender being bad. Temp gauge did work and recently stopped, I have not looked into it.Radio lights up but makes no sound, worked briefly when I first got the truck, either a tube, or the speaker blew.Parking brake cable brokenThere is rust. There are holes in the rear cab floor due to the rear window being broken for a number of years, inside the tool boxes the bed floor has holes, there are holes along the bottom edges of the bedsides, and the rear quarters have rust. underneath it is surprisingly solid. There are few spots where the previous owner started to plaster in filler, I am not a body guy and overall I liked the patina of the truck so I have left it all be.
There are extra front grills, the original 13" wheels and hubcaps, NIB front turn signal lenses.
