The valve covers and the air cleaner are painted the correct Cartesian gold color. The engine compartment was completely detailed. The hood hinges, hood release and spring & dowel were re-plated in the original gold dichromium finish. The original 390 cu in V8 engine was professionally rebuilt, and has approximately 30,000 miles on it since the work was done. When the engine was removed from the chassis, the entire engine compartment was media blasted and painted to match the body color. The muffler and exhaust system are brand new. The brake lines, master cylinder, wheel cylinders and brake shoes are new. The power brake booster is a remanufactured unit. The brake rotors have been cut, and the calipers have been rebuilt using new pads. The shock absorbers are brand new all around. The fuel tank is a Bob Drake reproduction. The body panels are laser straight with specially selected front fenders, hood and deck lid. Anything that was rusted or pitted was cut out and new metal was installed, including the left and right lower rear quarter panels. The body was painstakingly prepared and painted a late model Ford polar white color in acrylic enamel and color sanded to a beautiful finish. All door, vent window and front and rear windshield rubber moldings and seals were replaced, as well as all window cat whiskers. The vent window assemblies, roof belt moldings, rear window vent assembly and other trim pieces are “California chrome” rust free parts. The front and rear bumpers, grille components, hood ornament, roof sail panel ornaments, front turn signals, rear side mirror, door handles and buttons, headlight bezels, wiper bezels, front fender ornaments and trunk lock cover are triple chrome plated. The backup light bezels, rear taillight surrounds and lens are nos. All stainless steel moldings and trim were polished to a brilliant luster. There are a few small paint imperfections on the hood.
The interior seats were re-upholstered in red vinyl using an upholstery kit from Larry‘s Thunderbird Parts, which duplicates the original material and interior style. A white headliner was also installed. The dashboard panel, door panels, package tray, console and other interior parts were disassembled and refinished using a Dupont red dye that matched the original Ford color. A new red carpet and nos rubber floor mats have been installed as per original, as well as new reproduction scuff plates.
