UP FOR AUCTION IS THIS 1969 MACH 1. IT IS A SAN JOSE BUILTCAR THAT HAS RESIDED IN CALIFORNIA, TEXAS AND MOST RECENTLY IN WISCONSIN FOR THE PAST 12 YEARS WITH A PRIVATE COLLECTOR. AS SUCH IT HAS BEEN CARED FORIN A MANNER IN KEEPING WITH ITS COLLECTABILITY STATUS. NO SALT OR WINTER DRIVING, MOREOVER THE CAR HASN'T BEEN DRIVEN MUCH AT ALL. MAYBE A COUPLE TIMES A YEAR IN THE SUMMER MONTHS ONLY. I ONLY LEARNED OF THE CAR ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND A SCANT 40 MILES FROM MY HOUSE. NOT MUCH GETS BY ME IN THE LINE OF NICE OLD FORDSBUT I WOUND UP DELLING THIS GENTLEMAN A 2013CHALLENGER R/T AND SO WE GOT OFF TRADING STORIES AND HERE WE ARE. NOW, MORE ABOUT THE CAR..............
PER THE MARTI REPORT, THE CAR WAS BUILT IN SAN JOSE AND SOLD NEW AT MARCK FORD IN EL CAJON, CA. IT HAS RESIDED IN DRY CONDITIONS ALL ITS LIFE AND IT SHOWS. EQUIPPED WITH THE S CODE 390, CODE 5 FOUR SPEED TRANSMISSION, FOLD DOWN REAR SEAT, POWER FRONT DISC BRAKES, TINTED GLASS, CANDYAPPLE RED PAINT AND BLACK INTERIOR.
BODY/PAINT. THE CAR RETAINS ALL OF ITS ORIGINAL SHEETMETAL, NEVER RUSTED OR WRECKED. PLAINLY PUT, THE CAR IS AS DRYAND CLEAN AS THEY COME. IT HAS HAD 1 QUALITY REPAINT AND IN MY ESTIMATION IT IS IN THE 15 YEAR+ RANGE ANDSTILL VERY, VERY SHOWY YET TODAY. IT COULD BE MISTAKEN FOR ORIGINAL PAINT BUT ON CLOSER INSPECTION IT SHOWS TO HAVE ALL THE ORANGE PEEL WET SANDED AND BUFFED OUT OF IT YET HAS A PATINA TO IT THAT IS MIND BOGGLING AND ATTRACTIVE. IT HAS SOME SMALL NICKS HEREAND THERE BUT AN ARROW STRAIGHT BODY. WHAT YOU WON'T FIND ISTAPE MARKS, SAND SCRATCHES AND POOR PREP WORK. SOME TRIM HAS BEEN REPLACED AS WELL INCLUDING BUMPERS AT THE TIME OF THE REPAINT BUT TONS OF ORIGINALITY LEFT TO APPRECIATE. ALL FOUR WHEELS INCLUDING THE SPARE ARE 12 SLOT CHROME WITH THE FORD STAMP IN BETWEEN THE LUG HOLES.
INTERIOR. I BELIEVE IS VERY ORIGINAL WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE CARPET. THE LEFT BUCKET HAS A SMALL SEAM SPLIT [SEE PIC] AND THE INTERIOR SMELLS JUST LIKE MY DAD'S COUNTRY SQUIRES DID WHEN I WAS A KID. OLD FORDS HAVE A SMELL TO THEM AND THIS ONE HAS IT. THE OPTIONAL FOLD DOWN REAR SEAT IS PERFECT, DOOR TRIM PANELS ARE VERY NICE, ALL WOODGRAIN MATCHES AND IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION.DASH PAD IS THE NICEST I'VE EVER SEEN. 1/4 TRIMPANELS ARE AMAZING WITH ONLY MINOR SCUFFS. HEADLINER IS VERY NICE AND TIGHT.
MECHANICAL AND DRIVING IMPRESSIONS. THE 390 STARTS EASILY COLD OR WARM, RUNS SMOOTHLY BUT USE A CARB TWEAK BUT NOTHING AT ALL SERIOUS. ALL FLUIDS ARE FULL AND THE CAR DOES NOT LEAVE A PUDDLE OR DRIPS ON THE GARAGE FLOOR. THE MILEAGE AT 50K IS BELIEVED TO BE ACTUAL BUT I HAVE NO DOCS TO SUPPORT THIS. ONLY BY LOOKING AT THE CAR AND EVALUATING ITAS I DID WILL COME TO THE THOUGHT PROCESS THAT IT IS VERYPOSSIBLE. THE 4 SPEED IS QUIET AND SHIFTS WELL. THE REAR END IS QUIET ALSO WITH NO BEARING NOISE OR WHINING. THE ORIGINAL SHIFTER WAS REPLACED WITH A HURST COMPETITION PLUS MODEL WHICH IS NO REAL SHOCKER. NO SMOKING OR STRANGE NOISES FROM THE 390 WHICH PULLD NICELY THROUGH THE GEARS. THE CAR HANDLES ABOUT AS WELL AS ONE WOULD EXPECT AND GOES DOWN THE ROAD STRAIGHT WITH NO ISSUES. THE LAST OWNER ONLY REPLACED THE STARTER AND CARB AND THEY GO WITH THE CAR. THE CARB MAY BE ORIGINAL TO THE CAR, NOT SURE. IT EVEN HAS THE TRANSVERSE MUFFLER ON IT AND THE CAR IS VERY QUIET.
BOTTOM LINE HERE IS THIS IS A CLEAN, DRY, PRETTY ORIGINAL CAR THAT JUST SCREAMS OF PAST OWNERS BEING KIND AND THOUGHTFUL THROUGHOUT THE YEARS. NO ARMORALL, DOLLED UP RATTLE CAN PAINTED UNDERSIDE TRYING TO BE SOMETHING IT'S NOT. JUST AND HONEST CAR AND PRESENTED AS SUCH. PLEASE COME AND LOOK FOR YOURSELF.
