1937 GMC pickup very original truck.
Description
This is the one. Everyone is painting truck to have a patina like this. Except this is the real thing. Let’s start with the condition. It’s mostly original. Still six volt. Original engine. The truck runs excellent, well as a 1937 should run. If you expect to get in and drive it at 75 down the highway forget it. But it starts crisply. It drives smoothly. It turns(no power steeering) as it should. The lights and taillights Work. The front window cranks out. The side windows go up and down. The doors close nice and tight. Headlights work. Turn signals work. The heater comes on, but don’t expect much heat from it, they never worked well. Horn works. Everything on this truck works as it should.Let’s talk about condition. It really is in amazing condition. It is an 80 year old truck that has no real rust. As you see in the photos, it has some chipped paint and has very minimal surface rust starting. Absolutely no real rust even starting, let alone any rust through anywhere. As I said earlier, it is the faux paint jobs people are doing now, but this is the real deal. The fender paint is checking the perfect amount. The sign on the side, “for a good tow call mater” real deal from 60-80 years ago. Still has the wood floor centers in excellent condition. The interior paint is in excellent condition. Someone laid carpet over the whole floor to protect it. Check out the knob for the glove box. Has the painted words, “does mama know your out” that is probably original to the truck. I have never seen one before. Check out the inside roof. It is in excellent condition. Bumpers are solid and dent free. Front/rear suspension is excellent. All four brakes work well, or as well as 1937 brakes worked back then. It actually stops pretty strong. I have driven many old cars where even if the brakes are 100%, you are not sure if the car isn’t going to stop. This doesn’t have that feel. It actually stops nicely. Engine is a six cylinder that runs nice and strong. It I should very very original. It even has the small slit in the top of the valve cover to let out little puffs of smoke once ina while. So many of the have a modern valve cover without this. I am pretty sure it’s the original carb. And air cleaner. I know I keep saying it, but it’s amazing the originality of this truck. That nobody messed with it. Or modernized it. The frame and undercarriage are excellent. Very very minimal surface rust. No rot or rust through even starting anywhere. The bed is wood, with metal slats. Aged, but not worn or rotted in anyway. Solid hardwood. The wiring is still the old clothe type. Under the hood the cloth insulation on the edge is there. The rubber between the fenders is in good condition. I really am amazed at the original, but excellent condition of this truck. This truck has a lot of cool little features that make it stand out from your regular ford truck. Check out the hood ornament. The tail lights. The cool shape of the front bumper. It is the perfect candidate for a period correct hot rod. Put a flathead and some juice brakes on it. Channel it and clear coat over the truck to keep that patina. Maybe remove the fenders, If that’s the look you want. Lower the front end and maybe the rear a little. And it’s could be something out of the fifties. Definitely could be a vintage hot Rodder with little Work. Please don’t make offers unless you fully intend to complete the deal.
