1989 GMC Vandura Wagon Indy 500 Conversion van
Description
Listing this Van for a friend so if you ask a question please be patient I will give you his number to call and ask questions. I am going to list as much information about the van as I can. This is a rare odd-ball conversion van with Indy 500 logos in the headrests. The story is that 10 of these vans were made to transport the drivers of the 1989 Indy 500 around the track. Unfortunately there is no documentation to confirm this. He is the second owner of the van and that was the story he has gotten from the previous owner. He also was able to track somebody down that knew more about the van and the Indy 500 status.Aside from that this is a pretty decent van that runs great, drives good. It has dings and rust. I tried to represent the van the best I could through the pictures to give you a good idea about the extent of the rust.
If someone could confirm the story it would be a great addition to somebody's collection that has one of the famed 1989 GTA Trans Ams.
The van does have a brake light on but still seems to drive/stop fine. The owner is retired and looking to start setting off some of the vehicles that he has held on to for so long. This is the first of a few. He last used the van a couple of summers ago to do some camping. since then it has been stored and only occasionally driven to be moved around the property.
You could use this van as a dependable daily driver or restore. The interior is discolored and the wood trim could use some work but everything this there. The grille is cracked on a corner as shown in the pictures. There is some rust in various areas of the van. The owner sees no reason why you couldn't drive this van home. He has taken it on many long trips over the years. But again, this is a 30 year old van.
