Description

For your consideration is my beloved 1992 GMC Sierra SLE Extra Cab. Here is it's extensive history. I purchased this new in 1992 in Northern CA and has been here its entire life. Its use was as a recreational vehicle to tow our competition ski boat and a hobby toy for me. Over the years I continuously updated and kept it in premium condition. Here are the details:

Exterior- the paint was stripped and redone in 2004 using factory colors. All emblems and trim were replaced. This was not a cheap paint job, it was $12K. In 2012 I had all the top surfaces above the pin stripe line repainted due to the CA sun. It is not a trailer queen and has normal nicks etc. From the driver seat the blue hood appears as a deep pool of blue. The Leer camper shell was replaced in 2014 and has a removeable front window so you can clean it and the cab rear window. Bed is spray lined with a rubber bed mat. The truck has never been in an accident.

Engine- this is an expensive engine at over $15K. It is a New ZZ4 block with a nodular iron stroker crank and forged pistons displacing 383 cubic inches. Heads are World Product, cam is Competition Cams Corvette grind roller cam, rocker arms are aluminum roller, all hardware is ARP, valve springs are Crane, oil pan is a 6 quart pan, hi pressure pump. Block was meticulously machined for the forged pistons, each cylinder honed for its specific piston. Intake is an Edelbrock TBI. TBI itself is fitted with 454 injectors and adjustable regulator. In tank fuel pump is a high pressure 45 psi GM unit. Recipricating assembly is balanced. The distributor, coil, wires, wire looms are all new as is every sensor on the engine. On the chassis dyno the engine made 358 hp at the rear wheels...thru a 4WD drive train...and was still climbing at 5800 rpm. In real use the engine never sees this high rpm. Computer chip was programmed by a factory race programmer. This engine combo passes CA smog every 2 years and the smog station swears it never will when they hear the mild cam lope.

Exhaust-Edelbrock ceramic full length headers. Flowmaster exhaust, high flow cat, stainless steel tips.

Drivetrain/chassis- Custom built 700R4 using a Bully Dog diesel torque convertor. Under the middle of the chassis is a transmission cooler with electric fan. In the cab is a temp gauge and the switch control. Differentials and transfer case have always used synthetic fluid. Wheels are Mickey Thompson Classic 2 with near new Goodyear Duratrac 305/70R-17. Rear differential is a GM Gov-Loc with 4.56 gears. Front differential is 4.56 as well. The gears compensate for the tall tires, this truck has no problem towing or hot roddding. Rear sway bar is from a surburban. Both front and rear sway bars are mounted using polyurethane bushings. Torsion bars are Rancho 3/4 ton. Rear springs are Skyjacker Soft Ride 3/4 ton. Rear is supplemented with Firestone air bags with independent R&L controls in the cab. Shocks are Bilstein 5100. Front CV Shafts replaced in 2015. An AGR steering box and performance pump were installed last year along with ball joints and tie rod ends. The lift is 5-6" from the old Trailmaster Company in 1993. Stainless steel chromed nerf bars round out the chassis.

Interior-Interior was redone in 2014. The front seat was removed and refoamed and New GMC factory fabric used, there is only one person in the country that has this. He purchased the GM supply years ago because it was only used in one year. The seat covers were put on so I could preserve the new seat in case I ever sold it. The rear seat was left as-is and still looks new. New carpeting and headliner were installed. The dash was replaced and all questionable wiring redone. None of the plastic interior is cracked, it appears as-new. Steering wheel is a leather unit off a 1990 SS 454 truck. Steering column was rebuilt in 2015 and is nice and tight. Kenwood stereo supports USB, Bluetooth, Pandora, CD, AM/FM. There is a powered subwoofer under the driver seat. All speakers were replaced in 2015.

Additional items-there is a storage bin installed under the rear seat. There are 4 hi-lo horns installed. All added accessories are run off fused relays installed in the engine compartment. The truck has the tow package with a modern 7 wire/ 5 wire connector. I have the factory window sticker in perfect condition.

Spare parts included- A six lug 3/4 ton light duty differential not rebuilt yet. This increases your ring gear from 8.25" to 9.25". I have just about every spare part needed, every sensor, exhaust gaskets, various plugs, spark plug looms, door panel clips, steering wheel, instrument cluster and surround. Over the years I always acquired spare parts that might be needed some day.

This truck has been a fun hobby truck over the years. I get offers to purchase it whenever driven, it's doubtful you can find another 88-94 series truck in this condition. As I am getting older its time to pass it on to someone that would truly appreciate it. Neither of my grown children would give this truck the care it deserves. It runs like a performance vehicle, is tight and solid on the road. If you have any questions drop me an email. It's not possible for me to include every improvement I've made in 24 years so dont hesitate to ask. This is alot cheaper than a new truck that costs $60K-$70K and has a definate cool factor.
