Description

Relisting due to a buyer not paying for the car...

87 Jaguar XJ6, blue/silver color, 141,237 miles; car has been extensively upgraded by a previous owner. Runs/drives great. Seats have been swapped in from a 1998 XJ8; new seats have lumbar controls for the front seats and all power seat options work. Radio works. A/C works but vents are locked in defrost/bilevel mode. Cold air intake, many visual upgrades under the hood. Sunroof works and does not leak. All glass and chrome in good shape. New carpet throughout. Fiber optic upgrade completed to dash lighting. Hood has been modified to open into a fully vertical position. Headlights upgraded to European-market (i.e., larger low beam lamps, standard-size high-beam lamps). Almost too many mechanical upgrades/repairs to list (head rebuilt, full valve job, etc.) Dash wood is good but not great; ski slope will need attention. Transmission in superb shape, shifts like new. New GM alternator, new left side saddle tank. Both locking fuel caps work and have good seals. Fuel switching system works. Onboard computer works. Headliner is in very good shape for an old Jag but I couldn't call it perfect. New NRg steering wood/leather steering wheel that matches the dash and wood trim superbly. Previous owner dyed the interior to convert the leather from tan/brown to cream to match the seats, and did a very good job at it.

Central locking has been disabled, rear left window does not go up/down. Heater does not work but the issue seems to be electronic, not a heater core. Paint is good everywhere but hood and trunk (clearcoat needed). Engine upgrades may affect smog check.

Power antenna functions. Cruise control functions but needs calibration. Slight oil leak from around valve cover nuts/bolts. No discernible water or trans fluid leaks. Tires are OK now but will need replacement within the next 20k.

Virtually zero squeaks anywhere in the car; this is the most solid older Jaguar I've ever been around, and I've owned several. Drives fantastically and can make trips; my wife and I took it on a 1,000-mile cruise in the spring. Factory motor has had a lot of love put into it by a previous owner and the transmission functions better than some modern transmissions.

I'm not crazy about selling this car but I tend to buy older cars, drive them a few years and move on to other things. I need the garage space cleared out for my next project. This is truly one of the best examples of a loved Series III XJ6 you can find and it would do very well even as a daily driver.

UPDATE 8/5: I still drive this car, which means I still maintain it and take care of its needs. I wasn't happy with the rear braking performance so I recently elected to do a full refresh of the rear brakes, entire system: e-brake service, pads, rotors, calipers. Those items will either be serviced or replaced with new parts when you buy the car.
