Description

1986 Jeep CJ History The Jeep CJ models are both a series and a range of small, open-bodied off-road vehicles and compact pickup trucks, built and sold by several successive incarnations of the Jeep automobile marque from 1945 to 1986. In 1944, Willys-Overland, one of the two main manufacturers of the World War II military Jeep, built the first prototypes for a commercial version, the CJ, short for "civilian Jeep". Why This Jeep Is So Special The stock Jeeps are great, but what sets the 1986 Jeep CJ we have at Skyway Classics apart from all the stock CJs on the market is, ours has a 350 Chevrolet small block V8 sitting in the engine bay! Mechanical The small block Chevy engine has a lot more power than the stock factory one that came in the Jeep. And the mods do not stop there. It has an aluminum intake, high performance carb, chrome open air cleaner, ram type exhaust headers, air conditioning, power steering, power brakes, modified electronics and distributor, H.P. Spark plug wires, 4-speed automatic transmission and dual exhaust poking out the rear. The chassis has undergone a lot too with a lift kit, performance suspension parts, shocks, leaf springs, bumpers, and tow bar. Our CJ rides on chrome mag wheels and great off road B.F. Goodrich All Terrain T/A tires. Interior The great Tan high back Bucket Seat interior has a custom made performance aluminum dash with switches, gauges, custom grab handle, plush steering wheel, performance shifter in a con sole, floor mats, and matching rear seat, all protected by a roll bar and convertible half top. Exterior All CJ Jeeps consistently had a separate body and frame, rigid live axles with leaf springs both front and rear, a tapering nose design with flared fenders, and a fold-flat windshield, and could be driven without doors, as ours has separate cloth doors. The body is painted in a gloss black with small width fender flairs, hood hold-downs, and all the factory trim, emblems, lights, mirrors, side steps, etc. Conclusion The 1986 Jeep CJ we have at Skyway Classics is a well thought out and executed conversion with it's small block Chevy engine and automatic transmission. It will give you many hours of open air enjoyment, either on the road or off. After all, that's what Jeeps are made for. So give us a call at 941-254-6608. We also finance!
