1983 Jeep CJ7 Laredo Sport Utility 2-Door 4.2L

Description

This auction is for a mostly original Jeep Laredo CJ-7 1983. I bought this Jeep almost a decade ago, subsequently the vehicle has been indoors and protected from the elements. This Jeep has NOT ONCE been driven in any rain, off-road or snow. After owning more than 12 Jeeps over the years, this Jeep has been the most original of all of them. Car lovers complement my Jeep every time I drive it, he is definitely a head turning CJ that will allow the new owner the opportunity to own a piece of Americana.

Drive Train: This Jeep has the original 6-cylinder engine with its original 5-speed transmission. Perfect for cruising and driving cross country if desire. This Jeep will do 70mph no issues just like a new car. There are no known issues with the transmission or the engine and everything works as expected. A few upgrades have been made to make this Jeep more reliable. The carburetor was replaced with a Webber carburetor which was professionally installed. The distributor was replaced with a high performance one from 4WD.com. Lastly, I installed a ceramic coated exhaust header about two years ago. I can’t think of any other modifications made to this beauty. They are all small modifications that can be reversed if desire. I feel confident that this Jeep can be driven anywhere without any issues. The undercarriage is as well maintained as the outside of this vehicle. I encourage any inspections by a third party but take time and just look at the pictures. There's NO Rust or any damage in the chassis. This Jeep is in amazing condition with his original power train. You can tell he had a good life and never been abused.

Paint/Exterior: The paint in this Jeep is simply astonishing for a 33 years old vehicle. In terms of percentage I would describe it as 90% original. The only areas that have been repainted are the back door which, I had repainted to cover a few scratches acquired before a bought the Jeep. I also had a professional shop repaint under the front and rear fenders to take care of few scratches made by small rocks. Simply normal wear from 33 years on the road. I also had a few spots in the engine compartment repainted and that’s all. The Jeep has all the Laredo decals in great shape and the original chrome grill. I added few stainless-steel accents but other than that the Jeep is original. The paint has a few scratches (normal wear) but overall simply beautiful and yes almost all original paint. NO Rust visible anywhere. I added LED tail lights and changed the headlights, all plug-in items that don’t affect the originality of the vehicle. I also have a set of ½ metal doors that I acquired from a modern Wrangler and I have them painted to match the Jeep. I'm a Jeep enthusiast and believe me when I tell you, this is the best Jeep on eBay.

Interior: The interior in the Jeep is all original (See pictures) the rear seat shows the age but overall the seats are in great shape. A true testament that the Jeep has been well maintained and probably indoors for most of his life. All the gauges work! Including all the lights, clock, oil, fuel, temp, RPM, turn signals, etc. The Jeep has the original Laredo steering wheel (leather) with the leather glove box handle and all the factory decals. Before I bought the Jeep, the floor was coated with Rhino Liner to protect it. Fortunately they only did the floors, the sides on the inside, inner fenders, instrument panel, is all original paint in almost perfect condition. The dash is in perfect condition with no damage. The only addition made to the Jeep in 33 years is the previous owner installed a modern radio. This Jeep has working A/C and heating system.

Miscellaneous: I will include ½ metal doors, 1 set of fabric doors, and I have the full soft top which has some damage. I would install it if you need to transport the Jeep but to be honest the top needs to be replace. I had a small fire years ago, and the top was inside my storage and was damaged. The Jeep was not there.

In closing this Jeep is in amazing condition and is mostly original including the paint. I will give it 8 out of 10 for a 33 year old vehicle, simply an unmolested survivor. If you want to go off road this is not the Jeep for you and you’ll be better with something less expensive or even newer. This Jeep deserved someone that will continue to preserve it and enjoy it without destroying it. I’m not selling for a financial need, I simply have other toys and I hate to see it cover in my garage for months at the time. I know I will never find another one in this condition. There is a multitude of Jeeps listed on eBay but not many as original as this Jeep. There are no made in Taiwan parts or rust hiding under new paint in this vehicle. A non-refundable $500.00 deposit is due immediately. The remainder is due within 7 days. If no contact is made within 24 hours I reserve the right to re-list the vehicle or sell it otherwise. Most banks and credit unions do not finance vehicles older than 1995 or with more than 100K miles. Make sure if financing that your financial institution accepts the year and miles of this vehicle before bidding. Please arrange financing prior to bidding.

SHIPPING: Buyer responsibility. I live within 15 minutes of El Paso (ELP) airport just for reference.
