Description

Please read the entire ad as there is a ton of info. My son and I are selling our Series IIA. We purchased this for my sons senior project. He wanted to do something car related so we (mostly him just in case a teacher is reading this) did a mechanical refurbishing on this rover which he used as his project. The finale being he drove it to schoo, gave a presentation on the work done as well as some history on the company. He got an A! After being immersed in the Rover culture for the last 2 months we now have the opportunity to purchase a "109" wagon as my Wife and Daughter want in on the fun.. so this one sadly has to go.A bit of history on the truck. It was a Labor of Love apparently for the previous owner as the frame as well as the rest of the truck received a ton of work.According to the Gentleman(who had acquired it for a quick flip) we got it from the engine was rebuilt. I cant verify this but we had a compression test performed and the results were as follows.Cylinder 1: 125Cylinder 2: 128Cylinder 3: 125Cylinder 4: 130
It then,.. according the gentleman we got it from, sat for quite a few years, he subsequently had amassed a ton of new parts. That's where we came in. We began by replacing all brakes, cylinders, hoses and most of the lines as well as the Master Cylinder. We then replaced all hub seals and cleaned and re packed the bearings. We changed all fluids(engine and filter/Trans/Transfer case/front and rear diff./steering box) We then replaced the exhaust from the front pipe back. The pipe from the manifold was in great shape so we left it. New battery as well. Some positives on the truck are as follows:1. All glass is perfect and slides2. All controls work(lights/wipers/etc)3. Paint is presentable from 20 feet (maybe 30)up close...not so much4. No body rust.5. I am by no means and expert but the frame appears to have had some preservation work done ad looks pretty darn good. there are a few small spot where rust is starting.6. Tires are in great shape. there is a 6 or seven inch spot on each where there is a bit of cracking. These are the four spots that sat on the ground during the hibernation.7. Has the original hand crank behind the seat. Makes for a great party trick.8. Interior is in great shape. Small tear in driver side back cushion.9. All tool boxes under the seats are in great shape.10.It runs great! Quick touch of the key and it fires right up and settles into a perfect idle. 0 to 50 in roughly and hour or so. Slight grind if you rough house 2nd gear. Not a problem if you shift normal & gentle.11. Doesn't appear to have any significant leaks.12. COMES WITH A TON OF NEW PARTS! We used what we needed but there is still a ton. New Distributor,Filters,Tune up parts for several tune ups, gaskets galore, enough new weather stripping to do the whole truck over, Exhaust parts, and some cables and head light parts, just to name a few, as well as a bunch of old stuff in great shape (lenses,Fuel pups, and several carbs). Not sure about the functionality of some of these.13. Also there is a factory winch that we wanted to use but couldn't figure out how.14. Clean and clear Title in my name as well as antique PA plates. The Negatives:1. The driver side floor has a gap between the main panel and the tunnel. Tunnel can be replaced to fix this I assume. Didn't bother us.2. There is a small hole in the back floor, 1" in diameter. looks like it was for a drain.3. There is still a bunch more work that could be done to bring this truck to the next level but its a solid start with a bunch of work done and a bunch of parts. We are obviously selling it "As Is" and obviously there is no warranty or returns. If you are local I encourage you to inspect the truck. I prefer pick up but I can work with your shipper. I'm sure I am forgetting a bunch but here's a start anyway. Feel free to ask questions, and please only bid if you intend to buy as I am counting on the proceeds of this truck to purchase our next Rover. $500 deposit at auction end and remainder as cash or cashiers check. All funds must clear before truck leaves. Feel free to give me a ring with questions as well. Thanks for looking. Lou 610-506-9944
