Description

1992 Land Rover 110 - 200TDI - High Cap Pickup (RHD)

We have the great pleasure of offering this very unique 1992 Land Rover Defender 110 High Cap Pickup 5-speed up for adoption. She's a true farm truck. Literally, we found her on a farm where she was happily rolling across the fields. In fact, she comes with some free UK dirt stuck in the foot wells for anyone interested. She's been well cared for over the years (ok, she is a farm truck), including a recent mechanical refresh at the Bishop+Rook shop here in Minneapolis.

She's currently located and titled in Minnesota and can be legally owned and driven in all 49 states that matter (If you live in California and want to drive a classic Landy, you know what we're talking about).
About The Farm TruckWe bought the truck to use as a shop truck to run parts between our buildings (one of them is an hour away). Our gas-guzzling lifted Ram 1500 Hemi was great, but her 11 MPG (on a good day) was costing us a fortune. That's where this beauty came in. She drives perfectly down the road, cruising easily at 70+ with the 200TDi diesel giving us between 20-30 MPG on a regular basis. We've since moved into a new shop that's 4 minutes from our mechanic's shop and 6 minutes to my home. That means she's been sitting in the back corner of the shop (literally in the back corner) since we moved to the new location and it just doesn't seem fair. We figured we would test the waters and see if anyone out there wanted to drive something so truly unique that you'll likely never see one on the road where you live. We've seen 1 other High Cap in the US (and we're in this business).
The body is surprisingly straight and solid. The frame, bulkhead, and overall structure is solid. The doors have a nice patina and we may fix up the door panels before we send her to her new owner, but could leave it as it is too. Our plan was to keep her 100% the way she is on the exterior, but then upgrade the interior and make her plush. Either way, she's an amazing truck.
Here's a little mechanical history:
1. New Cam belt and Water Pump at 122,000 miles.2. New Clutch Master Cylinder.3. New Brake pads and discs.4. New front U-Joints.5. New Heavy Duty Battery.6. Winch Bumper and Bull Bars.7. Perfect patina.8. New radiator (being put in before she goes down the road).9. Wolf wheels.10. Free spare tire (meh, we're reaching).
We will give her a good tune up again before she heads out. She starts first time ever time. Ask us more questions: we love talking about this truck. Everyone who comes to the shop asks about her. Nearly every conversation features, "So, what's the deal with the truck in the back? That for sale?"

About Bishop+Rook and our Founder (Mike)

I’ve (Mike) worked in advertising as a creative director, director, photographer, and writer for most of my professional life. Over the past few years I had been searching for a way to focus the hobbies and interests I had outside the office. Bishop+Rook was crated as an outlet to develop the projects, ideas, and products related to my passion for travel, film, and automobiles.

Having purchased my first Land Rover Defender 90 in the spring of 2014, I fell in love with the way she drove and the conversations I had at car shows, gas stations, parking lots, and anywhere I drove her.

People have unique reaction when they see a vintage Land Rover. It inspires a sense of adventure and a wanderlust not found with any other vehicle. Wanting to capture this feeling on film, I started doing research on the sub-culture of Defender owners around the world — specifically the green laning culture in England. My ultimate goal is to film a documentary series about the Defender culture and the last “Go Anywhere” vehicle on the planet. This series, called “Adventure Tested,” would not only dig deep into the UK Land Rover culture, but also follow a series of Americans as they hunt the English countryside for their perfect Land Rover Defender.

Sharing Our Passion

What you will find on our website (bishoprook.com) is information related to the project, and a variety of vehicles we find along the way. We do a light restoration and offer them up for adoption for those in the midwest to enjoy at home. We restore the vehicles to an adventure-tested stage — not over-restored and not over-priced. We simply want to share our love an passion for these amazing vehicles with like-minded people.

We price our vehicles fairly. Any profit we make is turned back into our creative project. Any work we do is to ensure people can enjoy them right away — we make sure they are adventure ready on day one.

While we do have vehicles in stock, we also offer a service to find and import cars with specific requirements. Drop us a note and let us know what you would like.

Final Details & Notes

We are a small specialists restoration company based in Minnesota who focus on providing adventure ready vehicles. They are not complete ground up restorations, rather running and driving vehicles that are designed for adventure, not the showroom. We ask that you keep this in mind when you plan on becoming a caretaker of a 25+ year old vintage Land Rover Defender. There are always a few things here and there that could use fixing, but we try our best to represent them honestly. We keep a pretty extensive blog and social media account about our restoration efforts and our philosophy on these classic vehicles. We hope you have as much passion for these cars as we do. We highly recommend looking at the website for info about each vehicle and what to expect when adopting one. We love answering questions too!

Cheers!

Mike

Ebay does not recognize the UK VIN number, so here it is here: SALLDHHF7HA902000. Final VIN to be provided to any serious parties. There can be some VIN fraud out there, so we like to protect it from public view.
