1967 Land Rover series IIA Turbo Diesel
Description
Selling my 1967 IIA. It is an 18 month restoration that I enjoyed with my Dad and my son. We’ve put 1000 miles or so on it since the restoration was completed but it sits in the garage and does not get much use.
A lot to list so feel free to reach out for more pics and info if interested. Bulkhead was restored by a highly esteemed Rover enthusiast out of New York and is completely rust free. Truck was stripped down to the frame and frame was cleaned up, rusty rear section removed and replaced. Frame was then coated in rush inhibitive coating. Body was stripped down to bare aluminum, body work was done and then recoated in etching primer, epoxy primer and then painted. Truck is completely rust free.
The gem on the front is an original Koenig crank driven winch. All new seals and bearings installed on the winch with 100 feet ( I think) of new synthetic rope.
Gearbox is out of a series 3 and shifts well. The petrol engine was replaced with a 200TDI with 300TDI intake and turbo. Motor runs great, very strong nd very high and even compression over all 4 cylinders. Also had power brakes and P38 power steering.
Decided not to go with an overdrive setup and instead had the differentials sent off to Great Basin Rovers. New 4.11 gears reside inside on open carriers.
Suspension is from Rocky Mountian Parabolics.
Wiring is all brand new from front to back.
Unfortunately there are a few caveats. I never installed windshield wipers. I alway drove in fair weather and never got around to installing any. I have the original Lucas units but have no idea if they work. Second, the winch is crank driven and worked fine with the petrol engine. When I installed the TDI, the crank pulley changed and the old adapter did not work. I have the driveshaft but a new adapter to the 200TDI pulley will need to be acquired or made. Lastly, when we switched to power steering it altered the steering geometry slightly. When making right hand turns, it doesn’t cut quite as sharp as it does when making a left hand turn. This can probably be remedied easily, it just never bothered me enough to worry about it.
The truck came with a Safari top when I bought it. I went directly to a new soft top and never restored the hard top. I will include this with the truck at no charge. I will also include the original petrol 2.25 liter along with a ton of extra parts.
Again, I’m sure I’m leaving or missing some details so feel free to reach out for more info. I’d be happy to answer and questions.
No reserve.
