suicide doors, rust free project
Description
After much consideration, I've decided to sell my project Lincoln. I've realized my garage is just too small to work on it or store it, and I bought another more feasible project that I've wanted for a long time, so that helped me make my decision. This car is a true survivor, and seems to be all original. Unfortunately, I don't have any documentation for it, so my plan was a restomod. I am told the car was originally sold in South Carolina. The second owner had it since the early eighties, and parked it in his home garage around 1990. I am told I am the third owner. This is a running and driving project, will need some work to be road ready. I highly recommend bringing a trailer since the car is mostly original and driving it any sort of distance would be risky. I've taken it on a short drive around town with no issues if you want to drive it. The body and undercarriage is in excellent condition, virtually no rust. The quarters, rockers, doors, floors and trunk are rock solid. The battery box has two small holes in it, which can be seen in the last photo. The trunk still has factory brownish yellow undercoating plainly visible. under the carpeting. The outside trunk lock cover is in the glovebox. The vinyl roof will need replaced. The paint is original, and will buff out to a decent shine, although it has hairline cracks throughout. The passenger side fender had a spot above the wheel where the paint cracked and flaked off. The beltline trim is really nice, one clip is missing near the headlight on the driver side. The interior is decent as well. The front and back seats have no rips, the power feature works on the front seat and the leather is nice with no rips. There is a crack in the center of the dash near the speaker. Here's what works: power antenna, AM radio, heater controls, all interior lighting, windshield wipers (will need new rubber wiper blades), turn signals, exterior lighting, both wing/vent windows, driver side rear window. What does NOT work: Driver and passenger windows, passenger side rear window, power locks (there is a vacuum hose leaking or missing under the dash, you can hear suction when the engine is running). The headliner detached from the inside trim in the front, mostly on the passenger side above the sun visors and has a hole in it above the back seat about three inches around, but still intact otherwise. The A/C does not work, but I took the old belt off and the compressor spins freely with no bearing play. The engine burns oil and has a partially sticking exhaust lifter in the number one cylinder. It still runs but smokes out of the oil fill/breather tube. I replaced all the ignition components since it didn't run at all when I got it. I did three engine flushes and oil changes hoping maybe it was just sticking rings or sludge buildup, but didn't seem to help much. It also has new fuel and air filters, and a new battery. I flushed the old gas out of the tank. The transmission shifts like it should, power steering works. I replaced and rebuilt the entire brake system with brand new parts (except for the brake booster and parking brake), including getting the rotors and drums cut. I cleaned and repacked the front wheel bearings. The brakes work very well. I am including a reproduction Ford service manual with the sale, which I've found to be extremely useful. Not interested in any trades unless you have a 69 Dodge Charger. Any questions, please ask. I reserve the right to end the auction early as the car is for sale locally. A non refundable deposit of $100 is due within 24 hours of auctions end, the rest in cash at time of vehicle pickup. Thanks.
