Description

Selling my beloved 1987 Lotus Turbo Esprit HCi due to a family which has outgrown a two seater. I've owned it since 2009 and purchased it from a collector in California. It's black (paint code A02) over ox-blood Connolly red leather, has roughly 27K miles, and is #87 of the 159 US market Turbo Esprits in 1987. Of these, it's 1 of 7 in black over red. This information and more come from the Lotus Company Archivist in a letter and formal Certificate of Provenance.
Has new timing belt, radiator, tires, and a few other minor things. A/C has been converted to r134a and has a new compressor. It's garage kept and covered and has little wear and tear. There is nothing needed to be repaired or adjusted. It's never had any body or paint work beyond polishing and rare rock chip repair. Interior is also 100% original and soft. None of the fiberglass is warped from the sun. Wheels where silver painted originally, but a previous owner went for the much more attractive polished look. If you're a purest, it's a cheap easy fix to return them to silver. Summary - fully maintained, nearly all original, and easily one of the nicest Esprits in the country, but do remember it is a 30 year old car.
These are only a few of the photos I have readily available but will post more later. The first picture is from the first car show I took it to. The second was taken last year for a catalog. You'll note that it now has the "turbo esprit hci" side decals. These are original NOS decals from JAE, so are 100% correct. I also installed them (probably even more accurately) to factory specs. And yes, that's a joke if you know how they originally installed them :)
Other noteworthy things:
I don't take it to shows to collect trophies, but inevitably it's earned best of show three times, including one all British motorcar event. It was also used in the filming of Anchorman 2, as you can see in the third photo, but any scene that had it in there was cut unfortunately. And last but not least, it participated in the 2016 Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival & Concours d'Elegance (not the Car Club Showcase on Saturday, but the actual Concours event on Sunday). How you ask, if it's newer than 1973? Lotus was the featured marque, and I was invited for presentation only to represent the Esprit model (fourth photo). The best part was following Mario Andretti's 1969 Lotus Type 64 Indy car onto the field. I seriously wanted to pass it, just to say I did.
Last comments, please don't bid if you have no intentions of buying it. If you have any questions or want more photos, please email me. I am happy to assist in getting the car prepped and loaded if you close to transport it. I do recommend enclosed transport. Good luck!

Have had questions about a few things, so adding more notes.
First, yes, the original tool kit is complete and included, as is the owner's manual and shop manual.
Unlike most, no, the bumpers are not warped/rippled in any way. They have also never been painted or coated, so they still have the correct factory appearance.
Yes, the car is a little dusty, as I had it out about two weeks ago and did not cover it when I put it back in the garage. The car will be top to bottom professionally detailed, at my expense, before it is shipped.
