Maserati Quattroporte Series 3
Description
This is a running, driving three owner car showing 27,840 miles. It should be considered somewhat as a PROJECT CAR as it sat in an unoperative state for over 15 years. Over the past 5 years, I, as the 3rd owner, have performed certain repairs and reconditioning, but more systems need to be inspected and renewed by the new owner. This car is worthy of further work as it has excellent bones.
The body is rust-free except for the bottom of the driver's door (see photo) and a few dime size spots on the passenger door. Hood was damaged and replaced. The clear coat is peeling in a number of areas.
The interior is super nice and close to perfect with the exception of a slightly sagging head liner and a 12" area at the bottom of windshield where the leather has become unglued. No rips no tears, etc or even signs of normal wear. A nice Nardi steering wheel sets off this stunning cabin.
The aluminum 4-Cam V-8 with 4 twin choke Webber DCNF carburetors run strong. All pollution equipment has been removed but included with the car. Belt is off the a/c - not sure of condition. There are a couple of exhaust leaks but the system is in good shape. Rear end has a whine to it when cold and may need an alignment. Transmission has been serviced and the brakes seem fine.
The electronics on these cars can be a real challenge and the many years where this car was non-operative has created a number of gremlins - non-operative at this writing are the following: trunk lid, trunk shocks no longer hold lid up, gas tank door, passenger window, radio antenna and the new battery appears to have a drain on it. Shortly after I purchased the car the dash instruments quit working - speedo tac, gas gauge, etc. Only gauges working now are the temperature and oil pressure.
Tires (225-70-15) are new and the spare looks to have never been on the ground. Battery is about a year old. Owner's manual along with spare parts, service and electrical manual are included.
There is a nice article in Auto Italia, issue 269, July 2018Collector's Guide on these quattroportes (a must read).
I am also including certain parts to repair some of the non-functioning items such as power window motor, certain switches, radio antenna wire, etc.
I am trying to be thorough in my description of the condition but I may have missed a few things.
Feel free to email me with any questions. I welcome inspections of the vehicle.
