Description

Euro model, originally delivered in Monaco Feb 1986 and imported and federalized in March 1986. Owned for about 8 years, all records during my ownership including usualmaintenance. New soft top (navy blue), hardtop in great condition. Mechanically sound, new alternator, water pump, EHA valve, etc all replaced by Mercedes dealer or specialized independent asand whenneeded. Car has most options with headlamp washer/wipers, heated seats, AC (working), cruise control (not working), power windows, electric antenna, power locks (all working). AC blows cold (and hot)through center vents; car starts right away and runs strong. Transmission has E and S electronic adjustment that also works as expected. Starting in late 1985, the W107 Mercedes model, one of the longest running models in the company'shistory, received a major update. Galvanized fenders, doors and several other body parts and added wheel arch liners improved any rusts issues, slight changes to the dashboard and new wheels as well as a whole new set of engines and transmissions were offered.Amongst those, and replacing the 280SL (M110) was the 300SL. It carried the trusted and reliable M103 engine. An inline 6-cylinder with 3.0 liters of capacity and benefiting from the KE Bosch injection, it was rated at 187HP and 188 lbs/torque. Overall power is down from the larger 560SL engine offering, but it is also about 300 lbs lighter, clocking in atapproximately 3,300lbs, proving a surprising performer within the "panzerwagen" family. As a Euro model it ( VINWDB1070411A044205 - Ebay does not take foreign VINs) benefits from the small bumpers and flush headlamps, that some think provide a much cleaner look, as originally intended. For those who may ask, the car did have the US type headlights, as well as the under bumper turn signals when i purchased it, and i returned it to the original configuration. Now for the issues: The car does have original paint and there is some crazing around the top cover area, the dash top is cracked in the usual places (i do have the dash cap ), the cruise control does not work, the AC fan started this year with a slight wine on low speed (will need probably cleaning), the rubber of the bumpers has some slight shrinkage at the edges. On the other hands, tires are newer, wheels have been refinished, soft top is new (and its rubber deals as well), rubber bushings on the subframe have been replaced, as well as usual wear / age items on suspension and breaks. Otherwise this is a great driver, not perfect but comfortable and reliable for everyday use if needed.
