Description

This 1987 Mercedes-Benz 560SEC has 169k miles and is powered bya 5.6L V8 paired to a 4-speed automatic transmission. The car is finished in Silver Smoke Metallic over burgundy leather - a special factory order and a stunning combination. The seller acquired the So-Cal car from a Texas dealer in 2016 and has added less than 2k miles since. The Carfax is clean. The vehicle started life in Florida, then resided in Southern California until 2015. The car was a birthday gift for the owner's father, who loved these W126 cars, and so no expense was spared to make the car an excellent driver-quality coupe.

SERVICE

Two mechanics verified that a newtiming chain and guides had recently been installed before owner purchased the vehicle. Owner proceeded to replace the following: Fuel distributor, fuel injectors, spark plugs, distributor caps, rotor button, plug wire set, and ignition coil. Ignition timing and fuel mixture were reset. Also, a complete front end overhaul was done: both lower ball joints, both upper control arms, center link, tie rod assemblies, steering dampener, and both strut rod bushings were replaced. An alignment was done. And then the front brake pads were done too. Over $8k was spent on maintenance in the last year, including a respray of the roof where the clear coat was patchy. The car is soldwith title transfer paperwork from previous owners and a Virginia title in the seller's name.

Exterior

TheSilver Smoke Metallic exterior shows very well, with one nick on the left rear wheel arch. No sun damage is present on the paint. The car has been in the garage duringits life, obvious because of the quality of the original paint and the condition of the pinstriping.

An aftermarket muffler gives the car's V8 a throaty rumble.

INTERIOR

All of the interior equipmentare said to work properly, including the sunroof, power seats, and power windows.Even the glove box light still works. The current radio is an aftermarket unit with remote control. A Becker Grand prix radio is included in the sale for the new owner who craves stock.

The burgundy leather is very clean. There is a small 1" crack in the passenger seat seam, and a burst seam at the very top of the back seat which is nearly invisible. The dash is smooth with one fine crack near the window line. The carpeting is in exceptional condition. The burled walnut trim is in good shape. The leather on both vanity visors is in excellent shape.

The eight-way powered dual-stage heated front seats are working well per the seller, and the upholstery on the seats and door panels is in fine condition with some slight wear visible on the driver's seat.

The automated belt adjustor on the passenger side works fine. The adjustor on the driver's side was disabled for the owner's father.

TIRES

The car sits on 16" chrome Centra wheels with gold stars wearing 225/50/R16 Hancook tires. The owner says that one rim has significant chrome flaking and should be replaced or repaired.
