This 1966 Mercedes-Benz 250s W108 an excellent candidate for a driving restoration. The vehicle runs and drives properly, and shows no serious underbody rust. The 4 speed manual makes the car quite fun to drive. A trunk full of spares is included. Mileage accuracy is unknown.
All paint is original, and we have found no signs of bodywork. The paint is faded, and there are a handful of small dents on the hood and trunk. The chromework is in excellent condition, and the car is equipped with very expensive front driving/fog lights. The W108 is a handsome vehicle, and this one doesn't disappoint, even in it's patina-ed state. Either drive it as is and store indoors or repaint is recommended. Pictures show areas that are starting to surface rust.
Mechanically, the car operates properly. The engine runs like a sewing machine and will cruise at 75 all day. There are no major leaks nor does the engine burn fluids. Carburetors could likely use a rebuild, though the vehicle runs and drives fine as is. The steering has a bit of play, which we tracked to the kingpins in the front. Replacement kingpins are included in the trunk. The shifter is smooth and clicks into gear. The clutch, brake, and accelerator pedals are firm and responsive.
The interior, finished in bright red, is in excellent condition. All interior switchgear functions properly, except for the radio. All wood is present and in decent condition. The vehicle is equipped with dealer installed A/C which is fully hooked up, but needs to be recharged. The heater core is currently bypassed due to a leak, although the rest of the climate control switches function properly. The headliner is not present; replacements can be found cheaply on ebay. Doors shut with a solid thunk. All locks and latches work. Seats are supportive and bouncy.
