Description

1990 Mercedes-Benz 500 SL I'm not a Mercedes fan and don't know much about these cars but I'll do my best to tell you what I know about this one. I obtained this car from my friends father-in-law who recently passed away. This was his daily driver until about a month ago. He bought it about 5 years ago for 6,000 dollars and it stayed parked in his garage when he wasn't driving it. I've driven it myself about 100 miles. Engine doesn't run hot, smoke, knock or anything unusual, the transmission shifts like it should. There's no water in the oil or oil in the water & the trans fluid is a nice shade of red and doesn't smell cooked. It cruises great. A very solid heavy feeling car with smooth acceleration, performance and handling like a true sports car but wrapped in total luxury. I can see why this car was 85k back in the day. The interior is fair. No cracks in the dash, or rips in the seat it's just a little dirty and could use some detailing. The Body is solid & rust free, there's one small dent on the left rear which I believe could be massaged out by one of those dent remover people. The bottom section of the front bumper, under the license plate bracket is broken, it's just where the plastic has hit too many curbs, you can see it in the picture. The paint is fair. The pictures speak for the rest. Most of all the electric gadgets function like they should. Power windows, mirrors, seats, etc... Here's a few things that need fixin, the Odometer does not function. So the true mileage is unknown. The antenna doesn't go up & down like it should, the a/c doesn't blow cold air, and the idle seems to be set a little high, when it's in neutral or park. When it's in gear at a stop w/ your foot on the brake, the idle is lower. It's probably something simple, but I'm not about to go wrenching on this car and screw up more than I fix. As for the hard top, maybe I just don't know what I'm doing, but the red button on the center console stays lit up red, when you push it you can here something clicking but the tops not popping loose, it may just be stuck from being on so long & need a few people to pick up on it while someone else pushes the button, but again I don't want to break it b/c I don't know what I'm doing. . From what I understand, there's a fan club of people that know these cars inside & out... if you're one of them... this is a heck of a good deal for you b/c I have very little money tied up in this car & have zero interest in keeping it... the reserve is set ridiculously low so I can just move it along. Disclaimer : I've described the car to the best of my knowledge. It is a 27 year old car and is being sold as-is with no warranty, written, implied or assumed. This vehicle is being sold by Dixie Trading Co. at 6592 Caratoke Hwy, Grandy NC 27939 NC DLR # 0075857 If you happen to see this car on any website other than Dixie trading company, auto trader classics, craigslist, or eBay Motors, then it is most likely a scam... there is a slew of websites copying and pasting data from legitimate websites and promoting cars for sale that they don't own and trying to get suckers to buy them site unseen or send a small deposit to secure the deal...I know this b/c they've copied 3 of my last eBay ads, don't fall for it... give me a call if you have any questions or concerns... 252-619-8067, my name is Clay, I'm an English speaking US citizen with a southern accent & I'm right here in North Carolina with the car. This is a cash deal... which means you bring me cash & take the car... no trades, bit-coins, cashiers checks, money orders, etc... just plain old fashioned American currency with pictures of Benjamin Franklin on 'em, w/ the exception to a 500 dollar deposit via pay-pal, which is due within 24 hours of the auction ending. This will hold the car for you until you get here to pick it up. If you can not actually come here and get the car, I will take payment via bank to bank wire transfer from a US bank, but the car doesn't get picked up until the funds have cleared, which may sometimes take 2 business days.
