1968 Mercury Cyclone GT Fastback. 390 cubic inch, C6 Transmission (with shift kit), 9 inch Ford Rear End with quick change pumpkin. Believed to be Detroit Locker with rear gears around 3.25. Sheet metal is in very good condition both body and underbody. Nice glass, appears original. Motor pulls strong (does smoke on start-up), transmission shifts well. Suspension is in good condition but will need new rear leaf springs to improve handling and perfect stance. Also, passenger window does not close properly on roll-up. Will require adjustment/repair of windowholder in door. Interior is original and very nice with no rips or tears, no cracks in dash. Center console.
This is a striking automobile that turns heads and gets comments everywhere we go. Beautiful color combination. A true classic that turns 50 next year. This is going to be a very special car for someone. These cars are hard to find in this condition. As a side note, the 1968 Cyclone Fastback was a pioneer ofthe "Aero Wars" of NASCAR.
Power Steering, Power Brakes (Front Disc, Rear Drums), AC (Notworking). American Racing Mags, newer BF Goodrich RadialTires, Cobra Lemans Valve Covers. H Type Dual Exhaust. Original Factory Radio. Have original 390 badges, 14 in. GT Hubcaps, and stainless hood and fender trim.
