Description

1979 Mercury Cougar XR7 This has to be one of the newest 1979 XR7's in existence! With only 5300 miles it still retains all of its original paint, vinyl top and interior... all flawless! It also has an impressive list of options including: Factory A/C (cold) 351CI Motor, Tilt Wheel, Cruise Control, AM-FM Stereo Radio 8 Track, Tinted Glass, and Rally Wheels. This car was purchased new in Sheffield, AL at Gateway Lincoln Mercury on 2/14/79. The original owner was a local Farmer that bought the car for his wife. She was so proud of her new car that she would only drive it to Church, which was a mile away. Fast forward to late 80’s early 90’s she grew old and ill and her husband put the car in the barn as she didn’t drive it. The car would sit there till their friend/neighbor bought the car from them in 2003. The 2nd owner as well kept the car in his barn only to pull it out once a year to register it, service it and then park it back. I was told about the car 2 weeks ago, that this local farm had an old Cougar with no miles on it. And that he would probably sell it. I decided to chase the story and see if it was true. When I arrived to the farm he pulled the car out of his barn and just as they said sitting with just over 5200 miles. It didn’t take me long to realize it, that the car was everything that he said it was. With all documents from the first owners Purchase to every registration when he purchased it. The car inside is as nice as it was the day it was purchased. With Neil Diamond still in the 8 track player. The car runs and drives perfect. AC Blows Cold. Radio sings like the 70’s. The only thing that shows the age of the car is the Paint. It shows just enough Patina from sitting all those years in the barn with Boxes and what not stored on top. I have Paint metered the whole car to show it is the Original Paint. The Tires are old and show dry rot. I didn’t want to change them so the new owner can see that the car has not been driving much at all. The car is free of any major rust, as here in the south we don’t have salt or harsh winters. The only thing you will see is surface here and there. Bid with confidence as I am a known Classic Car expert. I manage very large and rare collections. I am an acquisitions specialist for collectors and classic car dealers worldwide. You can read articles and search the web about me. I’m not here to pull your chain. I bought the car personally to pass it along to someone that will appreciate it for what it is.

Search Hemming's. There is a couple of 79 Cougars for way over $14k and more miles. My reserve is set lowforprobably the lowest mile one around.
