1960 Mercury Colony Park Wagon
Description
All Mercury wagons were hardtops from 1957-1960 so this is thelast of them. It is a 9 passenger Colony Park with lots of options--power steering, brakes and seats, fender skirts--and also the very rare in-dash AC system. The car was sold new in California and then ended up in Arizona and is rust free. I have lots of original receipts from both the original owner, Bonnell Highberger and the second owner, Ragan Livingston who I bought it from. Oddly enough I even have the used car newspaper ad from 1970 that the second owner sawwhen he bought the car.
It was white originally, quite faded and the wood grain faded as well. So I had it painted an original metallic blue from that year that matches the salesbrochure cover. The seats were re-upholstered using the original silver color vinyl and original NOS woven fabric. new carpet as well. Door panels are original and excellent and even have the "Big M" deboss. Headlines is good. The vinyldash pad was also replaced. New wide white Coker tires. New NOS grille, fender bullets, door and window handles and other trim and bumpers re-chromed.
Has had carb andpower steering rebuilt as well as brake booster and added a new electric fuel pump and new shocks. Runs well. Don't really now the true mileage but sure it is more than 46k.
Everything works--radio,power seat, AC, rear window--but to be honest the AC is not powerful enough to actually cool the car on a hot day. That gigantic windshield just lets in too much light and heat and there is only the one center vent. Besides when I am out I want all the windows down anyway. This is a great driver but I happen to also have a near identical 59 Colony Park so 2 seems a little excessive.
