1956 Mercury Monterey, No Reserve
Description
This is a no reserve auction and if the sale price gets over $8000 I will pay for shipping up to 1000 miles within the United States from my home. I’m selling this car because I’m not mechanically inclined and I don’t want her to sit in my garage forever, someone needs to be enjoying her! Clean title on this car that I have owned for a few years, bought it in Mississippi from the original owners family member. Still has the dealership emblem, on the trunk, which was in the same area where I purchased the car but it had changed names to another Ford dealership. It will come with an original set of keys, car cover, maintenance manual, and anything else I can find that I have for it. If you have low or bad feedback please contact me prior to bidding.
Mercury was hitting on all eight cylinders in the mid-50s thanks to cars like this 1956 Mercury Monterey hardtop. Wearing a teal and white paint scheme and packing a rumbling 292 Y-block V8, its a fantastic heavy cruiser for the guy that thinks Fords are just too ordinary. Add in a few upgrades and it becomes a favorite car for cruise nights and long-distance runs where comfort matters. Mercurys styling was a bit more extroverted than Fords, and the longer chassis allowed designers to create bodies that were a bit more upscale-looking. The 56 models were slightly revised from 1955, adding those peaked headlights and the wide chrome grille and bumper assembly that make this car easy to recognize even from a distance. They are becoming more rare and fewer are seen on the road these days. You can see other examples of these vehicles for sale well into $30k numbers so don’t let this one get away!
This vehicle is all original including the drivetrain with only 45,308 original miles. Vehicle runs and drives but it needs a new freeze plug on the back of the block due to the new radiator cap causing to much pressure in the system. Vehicle has new radiator, tie rods, ball joints and bushings in the front end. Have the upper and lower control arm bushings but they are not installed and will come with the vehicle. Brand new custom exhaust from the exhaust manifolds back. Steering wheel recently repaired to factory look. Has a box with new glass for the side windows included in the back seat. This car rides smooth like a Cadillac when it’s cruising down the road. Plenty of power from the drivetrain. Brakes work exceptionally well and stop the car quickly. It does need some work to be a show car but as a daily driver or from 20 feet she looks great. Will need a new headliner the back section is missing. Typical rust areas and it has dings and dents it’s 63 years old. All of the trim and small pieces are there. Doors open extremely smooth, trunk pops up and holds itself in place easily, and hood stays up with no assistance. Vehicle will need to be towed or trailered due to the freeze plug issue. Check out the pictures and send me any questions you may have. Inspections are welcomed and encouraged for your peace of mind.
