1958 Mercury Montclair Turnpike Cruiser 6.3L
Description
A rare and beautiful 1958 Mercury Turnpike Cruiser. This was a one owner car and I don't have any reason to believe the mileage shown wouldn't be original. It drives wonderfully, you could be enjoying it from day one with no worries as far as I can see except for one. The park detent on the shifter does not stay in place so the car will not stay in park. It is 100% complete and is not missing any parts that I can tell.
About seven years ago it had a partial restoration. Engine and transmission were rebuilt, new exhaust, new brakes and some suspension. At that time the owners had the car repainted. Paint is good, I would grade it slightly above driver quality. No dings or dents, other than the hood. Someone installed a carb stud that was slightly too long and put a small ding in the hood because of it. There has been some repair work in the trunk as shown in the photos. No visible rust bubbling coming through the paint that I see. Chrome is decent driver quality.
Interior is original, including carpet. It is in excellent condition other than a small tear on the driver side of the front seat. The carpet could stand to be replaced and I do have a new carpet set in the box that will go with the car. Headliner is in good condition and original with all chrome bows in place. Lights on interior B pillars work and look fantastic. Dash is in excellent condition. Rear window did go up and down once but I have not checked it since, it did move very slowly the one time I tried it.
Tires are good, two had the blue still on the white wall. Even comes with what appears to be the original owners manual.
This is a wonderful driver that is very rare. Overseas buyers are welcome. Pick up or delivery is the responsibility of the buyer, I can provide some guidance there. I have about 40 more photos I can provide, you will need to contact me for the link.
